Well, the title says a lot, but I will add some notes.

Just to avoid any confusion - this is not a pack which includes completed terrains (entities).
If you want a terrain, you will have to build it
It can be done by segment pieces, so the enemies will have the chance to walk. Of course adding entities will expand the pack and make it better.
You can walk/climb these entities btw.

The original idea was provided by @fallen one, so credits to him!

Well, I will think what else I can add (may be tomorrow) - segments, entities, texture variations...

Cheers!

Thanks!
Well, I haven't even thought shall I release it or keep it for myself. I am not sure if anyone is interested in this...
I just wanted to show that it's possible to create terrains in FPSC.

Of course the screens just show roughly what I've done so far and I will add more stuff tomorrow.

Cheers!

Edit: darimc has created a free pack (I still haven't tested it) and you can find it here:

Thanks for posting the link to my pack. But please note that my pack is mainly meant for just background scenery or mp maps because enemies don't work perfect. But Ice Cube, I have always loved your work and I think this is some of your best yet. I think you should release for a price. $5 maybe?

Thanks a lot!

I also have problems, but it's not my fault. It's just how FPSC works...
Well, I will see if I can do anything to make them walk on hills (very doubtful indeed, lol).

Cheers!

lots of people have them walking on hills , do a search for the details on how to do it, I think rolfy was the first to wrok it out, also is this the terrain idea that I said about with them being able to slot into each other, ie seamless tiles one can put together, I hope it is.
A pack like that could be a major seller if done correctly, no competition, plus big audience of customers with a want that isnt being met by anyone, that equals a major interest product.

I said it in my first post (it's even bold), although I have thought about that a few months ago.

I mean they cannot chase you. They can stand, strafe, cover... but cannot chase.
I guess you mean these:
http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=100892&b=24
http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=100643&b=24

I have tested theses 10x10 pieces, but they work like mine - you cannot use the chase.fpi.
That should not be a big issue though ...
Well, I have created each peace (2x2) from a base I've modeled and they connect perfect, so I thnik this gives you more options unlike creating the whole terrain first and cut it to pieces.

If I release this pack (this means if it is 99% flawless) I don't see more than 10 purchases. Of course that's not the point, I just want to make it work perfect.

Ok, any ideas how to make this better are highly appreciated!

Cheers!

When the above were created they were 3x3 segment slices, which worked fine with no collision problems whatsoever and enemies could move across them easily.
With the introduction of null space in v1.06 the collision only works correctly at the centre of the segment, you can get around this by placing floor segments underneath the terrain, strangely enough the collision acts on the segment above and enemies walk on it fine.

You are absolutely right! They can now run and chaise you over the terrain.
Well, this means the segments must have direction and you have to put them like doors for example.

I have to go out now, but will work on this tonight. Just a few more tests...

Thanks a lot rolfy!
You always help when I'm stuck.

Do they have to be underneath on every single square, or just stick a single 100x100 floor seg under your 1000x1000 terrain.

why did they put that in, what was that for?

I think so.

The new standards may be.
I am sure it is for good but better ask TGC for that.

Null space prevents enemies from walking off ledges etc.

They should have it set into each segment as an option, then uncheck it if you dont want it on that segment, not every one wants to have a map run like sludge with 10 million tiny squares making up the floor, for my game that uses terrain Ill have to use 1.05, I cant make a game with a million segments in the floor Id like to make a game that will actualy play with decent frames. Though one could just put the square segs on the bits the enemies will be moving on not the whole level.

Saying that, Im not sure if this guy had some results

What about making a huge terrain, say almost filling the whole map, import it in as a segment, how whould that go, would it work?
Just put segments under the parts that enemies will walk on, would that work, would the frames be OK. Im guessing no, that fpsc has no way to cull whats not in view, and I bet fog doesnt work to cull whats beyond it either, Im guessing fpsc just draws the whole lot in, with no optomisation of any kind at all.

@fallen one, I agree with most of the things you said, but that's what you get with FPSC. You have to deal with this and that...
Well, it's still possible to get much from FPSC and make a great game, but if you are not happy - Dark GDK is now free and you may give it a shot... (I haven't tried it yet)

No, I don't think that will work.
I have issues even with 4x4 pieces, so I am using 2x2.

I hope so
Btw, it's ok so far, but I am not sure for huge maps...

This is going to be a free update for "YRR Door Pack 1", so I will post any news / progress in this thread:
http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=118465&b=24

So far, I have the segment pieces ready for testing. They work perfect on my machine.
