Okay, I hav ean idea for a vehicle, but I need some help with design and implementation.

My idea is to have the vehicle follow the play, so quickly that it has the same X/Z (of course, no collisions would be availible with the player) and then when you press a button, you stop driving it. You would also be able to use a weapon on the vehicle, however it would have to be availible only in the vehicle.

So, can anyone help me:
Refine my idea
Help me implement it (like help explain what kinds of funmctions I'd need and how they work; I know a fair deal of programming, however I know nothing on FPI.)

Ertlov already made a script that you could enter in
and drive.

Vehicle threads always start with hope, but eventually it's too much work to make something that will never look/act realistic. (Many have tried) The only way you'll pull off a vehicle is with modifying the source code.

I can tell your new here, i'm sorry but no-one will help you. There have been a million "i have totally awesome vehicle idea that'll work 4 sure" or "this ones better than da rest, dunno why, but it is."

Many greater programmers have tried my friend, i'm sorry so give up.

Why do people come on these forums mearly to put others down?

And Coffee Grunt, am I included in that "Greater Programers?" cause I made 3 different versions of vehicles. 1 Theoretical, 2 practical and working. And this was AGES ago.

@Cheese Cake: No one remembers the GREAT scripts. I admit I tend to release psuedocode more than completed and tested, but when I released the "no denying it works" code (meaning I set everything up and had it in a zip and all) it STILL dropped to the end of the forum within a matter of days.

Personally, I believe the people here don't like it when people do the impossible... I notice how most of the time, the first post says "Thats impossible", even if it's a simple enter a code to open a door.

Sigh...

Its not who you are or what you've done... its WHY you did it and how far you are willing to go.

Sorry man, didn't know 'bout that.........

I wasn't reffering to any group of programmers i was just saying:"people have tried, some have failed, some have made buggy and basic versions of vehicles.......

From what I've heard Ertlov's is quite buggy.......
I don't know about yours though Les Horribles, as i haven't seen it... I'm sorry if i insulted your scripting knowledge..

I have been here almost two years, and though a few have claimed to have made working vehicles, they either never released a working model, or explained how they did it in a way that could be replicated. That probably explains why:

1. People keep asking how to do it,
2. Most people say it can't be done, and
3. Some people say it can.

I'm sure it can be done because nothing is impossible. But some things are not worth doing in an engine as limited, with a grid as small as FPSC.

Best.

Vehicles make nice scenery for FPSc but that is about it.In a game like Halo where you have to cover loads of ground they make sense but with an engine like FPSC why bother?
You can turn a vehicle into a character or a weapon (I made a helicopter a while back which rolfy did some nifty improvements on)and they work fine...just not as vehicles. There have been some "workarounds" to vehicles but if you check the models and media section you won't find a driveable vehicle. That should say it all.Now I am not saying that nobody will ever be able to get a working/drivable vehicle into FPSC...but I wouldn't hold my breath either.
Another indication is that there is no vehicle support in x10 either.

Please have mercy and use the search function.
