Not with Dark GDK...

But you could check out Game Programming Allin one 2e. It uses allegro in C.

this is not exactly what you asked for - but it has enough (in the docs and stuff) to skim the surfaces of various 2d game making tricks and techniques - from "artsy" point of view and a media point of view - plus its a free tool: http://tilestudio.sourceforge.net/
