I have an patch for a game, but it always gives me an error when I try to install it. How would I open up the file and get the files myself to manually patch it. I've tried renaming it to .zip, I've tried one or two different extractors, nothing has worked. Does anyone know how to get the files out of it?

bunch of games use standard formats for things, very rarely they'll use an executable for the packing of media though cause unless they have their own stub-executable they'd have a totally open windows resource (or similar) system.
