I had a whole rant on i Robot written up, but I realized it would just start a big fight. I feel better having wrote it though.

Well said that it's JUST you.

That's not to say anyone would read ever book rather than a movie based off of it, but given I had the time and it's a genre that I actually like, I'd at LEAST read the book as well. So would most people. You know that I am Legend is the #1 best selling book in the US right now?

Well, Bizar Guy, for the Netherlands, you're pretty off for ' So would most people'. Actually, people look around with an ' omg, like, really?' face when I say it's a book. The majority of the Dutch has been damned to television long ago .

I wonder what the next Will Smith movie will be...

I am Weasel!

Will Smith movies are brutally bad, I mean do they think that when people read the books, people imagine the hero being anything like Will Smith!.

Quote: "I am Legend -> I am Beowulf -> This is SPARTA!"

Seems a bit of an obscure connection to make, compared to what I keep thinking every time I see this topic crop up...

I Am Legend -> He Is Legend (possibly combined with their song I Am Hollywood)

EDIT: Man, second page? that's the second time I've done this in half an hour Will Smith isn't that bad, and while I think it's better to read a book than watch a movie, I have to be honest and say I don't read that much any more. I still have to read Fight Club - The film is amazing, one of my favourites, but I've never got round to reading any Paluhniuk. I guess I'm kinda worried that one of them will make the other look rubbish by comparison. It's kind of like the way I never want to see films of things like 1984 because I just think they'd tarnish what is, almost 60 years on, still one of the best books around. On the other hand, what with the insurgence of Big Brother desecrating it's name, I doubt it can get a huge amount worse

Actually, the movie version was fantastic, and very close to the book.

You mean "The Last Man on Earth", right? That was closer to the story (which I happened to pick up and read after reading through this thread) and I just saw the movie. I must say, the ending of the movie was kind of cliche, but I loved the modern take on the whole thing and the acting was really well done. As I said on my blog:

Quote: "In any case, I Am Legend is a worthy movie and another example of how well Will Smith can act in post-apocalyptic scenarios. Personally, if the end of the world comes and I could pick one moviestar to help me out, it would be him."

Rami, are you talking to me? I was referring to the 1984 movie version of 1984.

From what I read on wikipedia, the movie version of I am legend had a similar story arc, but the ending was changed as well as most of the details throughout, and the fact that Will Smith didn't prey on innocent half-zombies.

actually, I hate to admit this but Will Smith is actually really talented. Whether you like him or not, you can't deny that he's done a lot of things and pretty much all of them have been successful! Its actually really annoying come to think of it...
