Ok I was planning on makeng this game with pro. a Cool tank game this summer, guess what happens. After playing Some Neverwinter Knights I hear this squaking noise coming from my computer and it sounded like something got stuck or is strguggling to go on. I open up my computer to make sure noting did got stuck because i thought a wire got stuck in the processers fan because thats what it sounded like. After ahile I moved this wire I turn my computer on again I heard the noise again and it did not sound right nad laster on I found out it was my Hard Drive. So I thought it had some bad sector damage to it from the so I Scan Disk it to fix the bad sectors, but guess what after i scan disk it and go through c and d I defrag D then When I defrag C it freezes and now My computer does not turn on. The story behind this is that I lost all my Dark basic pro Data of all the programs I was making and all the code for my old programs. Lost all the neverwinter nights maps I made and items. So now I cant even continue my projects and my computer was only 3 to 4 months old. Next Time I will just get a external hard drive and use that to save all my data.
AMD Atherlon 2400+ XP, 380 DDr memeory, ATI Radeon 9000 64 DDR.

And a Katana.

You sure it's gone for good? Take it to a computer repair shop. It's very likely they can salvage most of the data.

If you buy a second hard drive, put the first as a slave see if you can read some of your data. And, oh yeah - KEEP BACKUPS next time

Bunnies aren't just cute like everybody supposes, They got them hoppy legs & twitchy little noses,
And what's with all the carrots? What do they need such good eyesight for anyway?

MrTAToad: How true, I sent off a clients HD to see if they can get as much data off as possible. They charge a fortune just to do a 'diagnosis' to tell you how much data they can retrieve and then charge you again to get it off.

They came back nearly a week later and said they could get about 200kb from the 40gb drive. I told them where they could stick it! Still got charged though!

I hardly ever do backups, only every 6 months or so.

Quantum OnTrack do some good retrieval tools, unless it is a hardware problem you should be able to retrieve the data you need with them.

i can't remember the website right now so i'll get back to you later

invest in a cd burner or a dvd writer. A hard drive is still prone to problems like this.
