I'd rather it not be taken as an insult but more an observation of character. People really need to realize that everyone out there has their own emotions, goals, and priorites. If they are making a game and want to show it off putting them down because it "looks like Crysis" will discourge them from having fun with this product. I know a few people have done well with FPSC - but lets face it, even X10 isn't a truly commercial level engine. The majority of us are here to have fun. Showing off their creation and getting constructive feedback is a big part of this.
To sum it up I was merely stating that I'm beggining to understand the reasoning (or at least part of the reason) behind Dave's [DarkFact's] departure - alot of the feedback I tend to see here, mainly towards new members, is very negative with little constructive value. What if he
wants to make his game like Crysis? So what if it's on an island? If he puts aliens in is he copying Half-Life?
I'm not trying to insult anyone. I'm merely stating what I see and hoping people will realize that we're not lawyers who need to throw every accusation they can at each other.
I hope I didn't steal one of Keith's speach-to-be's
Anyways, on topic - The beach is looking pretty good! A few more rocks at varying height (move them deeper into the sand) further up the beach might help. The water should probably extend a little further too, with some sort of invisible barrier to keep you from going too far. The skybox seems to be lacking in detail a bit, more variation in the shades of blue and maybe add some more depth to the clouds.
