Since I bought the electronic copy of Dark basic Classic(DBC) I'm confused. I search and search and cant find a book specifically named Darkbasic or Dark Basic Classic. There are alot of books for Darkbasic Pro(DBP), and from what I'm reading in the forums there is a difference? While tutorials are all nice and stuff, It would be nice to have a book that I can take to work and read during lunch.
Im no stranger to programming. and in fact I have taught myself Basic, pascal, java, perl,c++,python, and VBA.
Also does this mean that DBC is being Sunsetted for DBP?

DBC (now referred to as DB Classic) is effectively Dark Basic V1, whereas DBPro is Dark Basic V2 - faster, updated and enhanced.

Books were available for DBC, but I don't know about the availability of them now. Have you searched TGC's main site?

As for the forums, type 'book' into the search panel at the bottom of the page and tick the 'Just this board' radio button before clicking the Search button for a bit more info.

I've got "The Begginer's Guide to blah-dey-blah Dark Basic Software"
I'll have to go find it for the actual name
It was a pretty good book but may be a little restrictive for you as you're not a noob

Ahh, come on, be nice...

Heres a good book - http://darkbasic.thegamecreators.com/?f=beginners_guide

I havn't looked too closely, but it says

Quote: "You'll get coverage of both DarkBASIC and DarkBASIC Professional,"

So, have a look at that. And then again, you could just print off the tutorials over here - http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=115633&b=7

thanks for all the suggestions. And especially the link to the book from gamecreators. However, when i followed the link on the gamecreators website to amazon I was almost floored, a single book costing $139 thats more than the DB pro program. I did what TDK said, and found a wikipedia site. I have already read and mastered all the tutorials from TDK's Sticky in this forum, Which I must add is a great first step. I guess Ill just have to learn the hard way and go through all the help files. Again thanks for all the suggestions.

I suggest that you
1)read the manual
2)read stickys at the top of the DBC board by TDK
3)read the binary moon tutorials located athttp://developer.thegamecreators.com/?f=t02/bm_tutorial_index
4) use dark edit in place of the included dbc editor - you can find a sticky at the top of the board with this
GOOD luck

It's called, "The Beginner's Guide to DarkBASIC Game Programming." It shouldn't be that hard to remember. (Yes, I have it too).

Seriously, how do you make the little blue text come up below your message?

I thought someone was... can't remember who or when but recently(ish) there was something on one of the boards about it. Or there may not have been. I think it was one of the mods or someone associated with TGC... not sure though...
