I was thinking. There has recently been a major crackdown in the geek culture with stricter policies, and I started wondering...

Exactly what is acceptable in geek culture?

alus.portbb.com go there.

Anything that fits in the AUP and anything that's more important than the fact you changed your underwear this week.

Good general rule of thumb - respect other people, and you won't break any rules. If what you're about to post might offend someone, then it's probably against the rules.

What if you have a obsession with changing underwear? It might feel very important, then.

I feel Agent Dink is disrespecting anyone with such an obsession and therefore is in violation of the AUP. Those people are having a hard time and we should cherish and protect those who are different no less than we'd protect someone who is similar to us. That one feels that changing underwear is a special moment should not be a valid reason to belittle them as if they were unexistant.

Instead of closing their topics, we should respect their hardships and try to be understanding for such things. They are having a life that's hard enough on itself.

Now, if you don't mind, I feel like changing my underwear.

The policies never changed. What did change was some overwhelming desire of a few members to post any random thought that passed through their mind. This is a very contagious trait, and it seems to snowball until Geek Culture becomes less than useless, hence the "tidy-up".

The word "Geek" pertains to intellectually stimulating topics.

Intellect is relative... For my little brother, I'd consider him saying 'therefore' a highly intellectual effort.

What if it turned out someone was asking him how old a bunch of four year olds were? Would you still consider it an intellectual response?

Good general rule of thumb - don't reveal your previously hidden stupidity by posting stupid things about nobody cares about. Because they're stupid. Nobody cares if you have a new girlfriend, or just started puberty, and it's quite annoying if you only post to talk about 'pie' or some such nonsense. Post something INTERESTING and NON-OFFENSIVE and it won't get locked. If you can't follow those rules then you aren't making games anyway because you're stupid and you shouldn't even be here and you should just post a blog that only you'll read because it's stupid. Stupid.

Intellect is linked with nerds...
GEEKS are computer freaks, programmers and video gamers. SO we dont have to be smart if we're the last kind only.

I always linked nerds to obsessive and/or uninformed types and generally antisocial, whereas geeks know what they're doing and tend to have better social lives...
