I have no idea why this is happening, and its annoying me because ive only just got the ipod and cant put anything on it!!!!

maybe it's a usb driver issue?

If you think it's corrupt memory leave it plugged in and switch you PC off/on. Windows should recognise it as a corrupt drive and give it the blue screen hard drive repair before XP starts.

If that don't work go into device manager, delete everything remotly to do with USB, then reboot your machine and let all the USB drivers re-install.

Sure, why doesn't everybody go around and try to change everybody's OS?

I would try reinstalling some of your drivers. Try to reinstall the USB drivers. If that doesn't work, try reinstalling the software that came with your I-POD or psp(if any).

What's the message when it BSODs? (The error line, e.g. BAD_POOL_HEADER etc.)

[If it resets on BSOD, you can make it stay on the screen until powered down, by going into My Computer -> properties -> advanced -> Startup and recovery settings, and unchecking "Automatically restart" under System failure ]
