The thing about this particular scenario is that Duke Nukem is so well known and infamous because of its dev cycle that almost every single person is going to buy a copy of Forever. Yes, it's a running joke that its taken so long, and yes, people ridicule it, but I guarantee those same people are still going to buy it, regardless. Now, 3D Realms could just release this game in a half-finished state any time and probably still make incredible sales, but thank god they've had the common sense to not release it early because so far they've been one step behind the next big thing every time (just look at their past E3 reels, they're copying, not innovating).
At least this time (although the teaser doesn't really show much), they're reasonably on top of things so I'm glad they've waited and rebuilt the engine a billion times, because it looks like it's payed off. The only risk they have so far is if they wait too much longer, the new generation of gamers won't even know what Duke Nukem is.
Well, those are my thoughts at least.
