Hello to everyone that reads on

Iv done a little HTML programming i know a fair bit of it and i was looking to take a step up with my love and drive for games i would love to try my hand at C/C++ the only thing is im lesser then a noobie im a nooblet at this and would need someone to point me to the right path to take to start my hand at programming .. so any help in this would be great .. also when i say new iv got DarkBasic Pro trial and thats it anything else ill need to download to try it out please say so here

Start with the DBP trial. If you are happy with that buy DBP or you can Download Dark GDK for free however c++ isn't the best language to learn if you are just starting out. DBP is worth the money in my opinion.

Take a look at the tutorials, and experiment yourself. Check out the 20 line challenge and Code Snippents sections for some good code to look at and disect. If you like it, then programming is for you!

Although its definitely possible to start off with c/c++ It's easier to start off with a language thats more like english. Thats just my personal opinion though.

HeavyAmp is right, you can and a few college Computer Science programs I looked at make it your first language.

If you are interested, pick up book like Learn CPP in a weekend or one of the In Easy Step Series. They teach you enough to make you familiar and set you back less than $20 in most cases.

One of the really cool things about DBP though is instant gratificaiton. Plus you can take concepts you learn in DBP and use them later in other languages like CPP.

Mind you I'm no expert in either, just relating my experience.

From my experience, DBPro was an excelent to start with. I started with it (ok, that´s just an half truth, I started of with an BASIC language on the advanced calculators we had in school, but DBPro was my first computer programming language and my second language ever), which made it very easy to learn C#. And now I know a bit of DBPro, C#, Java and C++, althrough I´m only an noob at C++ and I do not know much about Java. My point is that DBPro will with ease teach you the principles of how to code, and then it is not that hard to move on to another language, if you want that.

well, id actually say you are both right. C++ isn't the best language to learn for a beginner if you are teaching yourself. I tried teaching myself and I got lost to many times. but if you have a teacher, its MUCH easier.

as for DBP, i found it to be the best for teaching yourself and learning the programming basics.
