Scary I've been around long enough to make all of these, so why not keep the tradition going? Hopefully many of you completed your resolutions from last year, if not, keep working on them(I know I am ).

My Dark Basic/GDK/FPSC resolutions for this year:

-Complete a DGDK project

This year I'm keeping it a bit more simple, as I've got less and less time now that I'm attending a university. However, maybe I'll finally be able to finish my goal. Go ahead and share your own!

A book? I hate book. Book is stupid.

Ditto. I'm tired of fooling around with just an engine anymore. I want to make some games! Redownloaded my copy of DGDK, only to find out it was upgraded from Shareware to Commercial.

Release at least three DBP games in 2008 and at least one FPSC game as well. I'm so serious it hurts... I'm not kidding, it literally hurts, every time I close my eyes I see booleans!

Good! You haven't seen a 2 yet, you'll be alright.

Nope, if I see a 2 it's a sign that I'm only 30-40 seconds from passing out, so I'll have time to at least turn off my monitor and leave the room... might only make it to the kitchen though

Complete my animated ragdolls for my dgdk physics plugin. I swear, those things are hard. But very doable. So close, yet so far... Still have to be able to load ragdoll animations from files. Or grab them out of EnAn animations and or the actual dbp objects.

Complete a project.

Simple. Or is it?

I started game making 6 years a go (with TGF, started learning DBC abd came onto the forums late 2004 with knowing the parts I need to make a good game and have been trying to blag one ever since) and have been saying 'finish a project' ever since. In 2008, I will and I'll guarantee you that I will finish at least 1, I am working on a text adventure, they're easy enough.

Wow, I completed these two from last year.

Quote: "- Get out of credit card debt (halfway there since last year )
- Go to North Korea in August for Arirang celebration"

For this year:

- Get significant headway and/or complete my section of the non-game application I'm building with the Unreal 3 engine with my father.
- Top Secret career-related goal I don't want to post here for fear of my boss reading this
- Get my first mortgage, a townhouse, and finally stop paying $900 a month into the trash, essentially.

Funny - I posted 4 years ago and 2 years ago, but not 3 years or last year. Maybe I do this every other year so I don't aim too high.

This year:
- Complete Spitfire Maverick, meaning I have actually completely 2 whole Darkbasic games in nigh on 8 years of DB development.
- Do something cool with Wolfs animation plugin

Non-dbp related resolutions:
- Try and get my car to 500bhp
- Save money and move house ASAP

.... although those two clash a bit.

Mine from last year...
Quote: "1. Publish Geisha House! (it's essentially done, I'm just raising money for some assets).
2. Win something in the Nvidia competition.
3. Finish my completely awesome, super secret contract job so that the entire world can see it.

I'm sure to get two out of three this year "

Well, I did complete #3. I didn't do #2 because of #3 and #1, well, that's my #1 this year.

1. By God finish Geisha House!!
2. Finish the RPG Editor

That's it. Simple, right?

-Work my way up to doing 100 pushups in 2 minutes by the end of the year
-Work my way up to doing 100 situps in 2 minutes by the end of the year
-Being able to do 10+ deadhang pullups by the end of the year
-Run a mile in a half in 9:30 with boots on by the end of the year.
-Finish a game
-Drink little soda
-Get accepted to 2 of my 3 colleges I applied for
-Stay out of debt as possible when I enter college in the fall

Those are mine.

Well, I met my goal for 2007 -- release version 1.0 of CodeSurge.

For 2008, I want to release my new secret project that I just started working on. Can't give any details yet, but you'll love it.

CodeSurge
Version 1.0 finally released! Code your DBP projects in style. (And save the kittens!)

Great to see a lot of you guys finished some of your projects!

Lol at Fallout. It's okay, I think I've only completed one or two of my resolutions in the last four years.

Maybe moving out of your parent's basement, and getting a job away from McDonalds, would probably be a good start, especially for your age.

Funny, I don't live in my parent's basement, and I have never worked in fast food. Actually I've been working in a very real and very mature job since I was 14 (just not a good job to meet the ladies I guess) so screw you (jk if the smilies don't get the message across) And it's not like I don't have female friends. In fact I was out with 3 of them last night. I just don't feel they meet the necessary criteria.

Agent Dink, here's a suggestion, start a girlfriend thread and maybe people's expertise on the forums will help...

Nah just kidding, we've had a good run since the last girlfriend thread, if you break it we'll have to break your legs, sorry but that's the way it is.

Well, getting a girlfriend doesn't exactly meet the criteria of a 'Dark Basic Resolution'. If you modeled your girlfriend for a game then that would be okay. Anyway, girlfriends are cool, wish I had one

for some reason i don't think a game design forum would be the best place for advice on girl friends. but my new years resolution is to make a decent start on my rpg. and finish the college. i had to transfer from the art institute to ksu the middle of my senior year, and it's taken me 6 months just to redo paper work.
