Hi, I'd like to congratulate TGC on this release and partnership with MS, i wish you guys all the best.

Attempting to run the tutorial '3D Object' im experencing some incrediably long load times when GDK attempts to load 3d Colenel.x file. Havent tried a diffrent tutorial yet.

The load time is something like 45 seconds to start this tutorial in vc++.

Is this a known issue or is my case an issolated occurrence?

Thanks.

I would have to say thats unusual. I tested 3 times on mine, got load times no greater than 15 seconds

My comp specs are
Elitech motherboard AMD with HT2000
Amd 6000+ X2 Processor
2 Gb 1033 OCZ Ram
8500GT nVidia 512mb
on a 20gb hard drive, lol

It could be vista (god I hate vista)

typos...

It very well could be Vista.

I've rebooted, uninstall vc, reinstalled everything. Still seems to hang on loading animated models. Sometimes it takes upwards of 2 minutes before it finally renders.

Anyone else on vista 32/64 install and using the gdk without blimish?

I'm having the same problem loading the tutorial or my own project. I get the same delay about 45 sec. I'm trying to run it on my laptop thats running vista. It's a 2 gig with a gig of ram.

Verified, have tested on my vista x64 latop, vista x32 desktop and a testbed Xp desktop.

Animated meshes take about 60 secs to load and start on vista, no such error on xp..

Such a huge bug, suprised this wasnt caught in beta or alpha stages..

Can only hope the devs see this thread and solve it, as it stands I cant really use the sdk .

Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one. It is a pain when every time you change the code you have to wait almost a min. I truly hate vista with a passion.

Some people say it's okay.

Hardly encouragement.

Has the devs ever responded to this in the past? Am I to assume this is 'how it works', was the product ever evaluated by Microsoft themseleves?

I posted in the bug forum hoping to get a response soon, i'll check back later.

This hardly looks like a Vista bug Try to shout out loudly so that GDK devs hear you. Unfortunately (or fortunately?) it works nicely on my machine, so can't help much with the problem. I can only advise to profile the code to find the culprit so you know whom to blame actually.

Theres no profiling to do, it hangs on the load animation X file command. This is coming from a clean install of vc 2008 and gdk, this machine has never seen these two applications before so it cant be a configuration problem. Im hardly blamming Vista for this.
