I'd argue that a good story in an awful looking game or comic would suck. Good doesnt mean realistic or such, but you have to know what is what, viewpoints, panels, and pacing are really much more important in a comic than the story or the art, as neither maters if you've screwed those up. In anything visual, if it doesn't fill in what you imagine in some way, it doesn't work.
That said, you'd almost have to try to have no compositional sense, though I'm pointing out it is FAR more important than people make it out to be. So really as long as you're satisfied with the way something looks in a comic, it's probably passable.
If you know what you're looking for even, you'll notice that old games have very well thought out visuals most of the time.
