Are there any Unreal Mappers here, especially those venturing in UT3? I would like to see your progess so far.

I'm currently making a map for CTF / VCTF called Coldpass, it's set in a run-down water treatment plant. A symmetrical map with 2 bases not so different from Face.

Favourite feature so far with the new editor is the postprocess volume

That looks great I'm getting UT3 in the mail very shortly, and I'll begin working on a few prototypes. I'm not good at map design, so I may come across some stumbling blocks.

my brother got me UT3 for Christmas, i cant wait to start getting some of my stuff in there and creating some maps, i had a go with the editor, its alot....cleaner than before

i tried the ol' creating a box room to start off but it seems hitting subtract doesn't build the shape anymore, i would search, but i keep getting older version tutorials, which work.

bah, I'll get it, though if anyone knows of a beginner Unreal-ED 4 (?) tutorial, then wing it my way please

thats a cool looking map so far Wehtam!

edit:

i think the new torlan map is a bit weird, i loved that level on UT2k4, but now it seems 'flatter' and way too big.

I got the collector's edition of UT3 for x-mas, and it came with 20+ hours of of video on how to use the editor. Too bad I really suck at map design...

Yeah, i just got the collectors edition too, the tutorials are great but I still prefer 3D world studio's interface to UnrealEd's

I'm a big iCTF player of UT2k4, and that map looks pretty good. But of course, I'd have to play it to know the size and see how good it really is

Are you making your own mesh too?

I agree, the central tower looks a bit naff in my opinion, now.

Same as! How are you finding the lack of the dodge jump in UT3 ? I really miss it, along with FaceClassic and BridgeofFate

Probably not for this map, im considering this map as my experiment into the new unrealED packages, but I am working on a mod with a freind which will largely be custom meshes.

ooooo I hate it! I can do without Face, its a camper's map. But Bridge was always a favorite. We'll have to play one another some time.

The rumour is that an update to the editor is being released next week so you can use your maps on the PS3 version too (link). Basically you make your map on the PC and copy it to a USB memory stick to use it on your PS3. Should be pretty cool.
