Hey guys, I've started work on my text adventure, called 'Aertor's Saga' it's a fantasy based adventure occurring in an environment like ours in a mythological world. I'm in the process of working towards a demo, but at the moment, it runs off of my WIP Engine - with only a couple more features needed adding (Saving/Loading, text and image manipulation - so that I can use more visual aspects)

It also uses music to enhance the game experience, though at the moment I'm using placeholder music.

Screenshots (Render image made in Carrara 5 pro):

Cheers,

I might add that the main progress will be image and writing based. (Hence I need to implement image control, with that each 'location' will have a image for it, of course modelling and rendering those locations will be the hard bit. )

I'm just settling back at my flat (I've been doing the 'writing' and planning when I was at home, now I'm at my flat I can work on other things), but tomorrow should be a road for progressing the engine side of things and modelling the train station.

It's unedited at the moment (hence the odd typo and grammatical error and perhaps 'not-so-fluid' prose), so that I could use something just to test for an problems/limitations with the engine and also for preparing the renders.

Anyway, cheers.

Also, as a note, I just need to fix one more part of the engine and get working on the editing and locations for the first 'Chapter' and I'll provide a demo. The music I'm using is just placeholder stuff, but I might try and see if anybody is willing to work on that for free.

Looks good, but you will need to spell check and grammar check it before you release it (For example, 'aren't any guards' not 'isn't any guards' and 'Flea bag' not 'Flead bag'

edit:
Lol, same time

Spell check is for losers. Like I said, it's unedited - I'll iron out these stupid errors before people tell me off for doing a degree in writing when I can't even spell 'flea'

Anyway, cheers for the comments y'all.

And you´re supposed to be doing a degree in writing? You can't even spell 'flea'!

A working Save/Load system - so all aspects to the engine are sorted (or at least I hope)

You can only save to one file though.

Excellent! When I did my text adventure, I always thought the one thing that might well add to the experience would be environment pictures. I never did them since they would have looked rubbish, but yours are totally fitting.

Also, I like that you have music. Make sure that the loops are nice and long (otherwise people will get annoyed with it) and that there's an option for turning it off. Personally I'd have the music, but some people like a quiet game.

I think there should be more than one save slot: you just need, say, five different files (called, eg, "save1.sav" to "save5.sav") corresponding to different slots. The principle should be the same.

I'm not actually a Kiwi, I just randomly thought it up one day.

I'll add multiple save files, for the time being it's one.

As for turning off the music, probably a good idea for people that'd rather have their own music running in the background, though I can't see why they would - it's madness!

The loops are nice and long, the good thing is, each script can load a music file, but if you don't want to load a music file, it'll just rely on the parent.

Environments are quite handy, luckily I just picked up a copy of Carrara Pro, so that I've actually got a modern renderer, which helps a lot when it comes to composing the final piece (though from some of those renders you can see I'm still just playing with the composition)

Cheers. I looked at your adventure at an early part of the thread, perhaps I should check back to see how you've go on it (It looked good when I had a look)

Or, Seppuku, download I think issue 2 of Untitled and read a review of all entries .

I think it was issue 1, but I may be wrong.

Thanks Seppuku - Duality was finished a while ago, all four chapters. Mm, scary Goetic Lovecraftian story...

Or download them, yes. I'll have a look a later - shame I just missed the comp, well I could always wait until the next one.

Cheers.
