Okay so I think most of you will probably know that I've talked alot about getting a computer and then not getting it and then thinking of getting a 360, which I did.

My logic behind it was I'll use it to play all the latest games and use my crap laptop for study email and all that jazz. But 2 days after I got the 360 I didn't like it (I also thought it a bit ironic that I'm subscribed to a gaming magazine called 'PC' Powerplay) So I'm taking it back and getting a PC from the same place!

Heres the specs that I'm looking at,
PROCESSOR: INTEL CORE 2 QUAD 6600 2.4G LGA775
MOTHERBOARD: INTEL DP35DPM LGA775 ATX MB
RAM: 2x CORSAIR 2GB DDR2 800MHZ
CASE: COOLER MASTER CM 690
HARD DRIVE: WESTERN DIGITAL CAVIER KS 320GB SATA II
VIDEO: MSI 8800GT 512MB PCI-E VIDEO
OPTICAL DVD: LG 18X +- DUAL LAYER DVR/RW BLACK SATA
OS: WINDOWS VISTA HOME PREMIUM 64bit
SOUND: Integrated
NETWORK: Integrated

Heres a link to the case, so you can see how it looks,

So what do you guys think? Does it look reasonable? My bro thinks that it's a waste to go for 800Mhz RAM and that I should just get 667Mhz, He says theres no performance difference, but I don't know I'm going to look into it but just thought I would mention it here as some of you know alot more then me about these things!
Thanks!

Huh...800 vs 667...800>667..800 is larger than 667...one could only assume there was some performance difference.

Not if the motherboard can't handle the 800MHz (which I have no idea if it can, I'm just giving a reason as to why the speed jump might not five you a performance difference).

Well it is a new motherboard and all, so also one can only assume that it can.

the mobo can handle the 800mhz ram, that is, if the ram is actually 800mhz. I would assume it is since that's the max speed the mobo will handle. Double check before you buy though, as it would make a slight difference in speed. And there will be a speed difference since you'll be running the ram at a 1:1 speed vs the fsb. Normally with ddr 667 you're looking at a 1cpu fsb:1.5ram speed difference, which is a little bit slower. Possibly not noticable, but not really a whole lot of price difference.

That's a very nice computer, probably 2 or 3 times as much as the xbox though But it'll be 2 or 3 times as good

Well I haven't got it yet but so far I'm looking at around $1400 to $1600 Australian.

Does anybody here use Cooler Master Real Power PSU's? I'm looking at the 550 Watt one with 80% efficiency

I've never bought one, so I can't say.

Although you can't purchase internationally from newegg.com, you can check their reviews if you need an opinion.

Yeah I could build it myself I don't really trust myself! I've never done it before!

I'm using the family computer. It's terrible when they push me off!
Plus I do have a laptop, with no graphic support to speak of, but that's not on the internet!
