MINet 2.0
The wait is finally over... well, almost. Me, Agent Dink, and Rami have been talking about MINet 2.0 quite a bit lately, and the hour is finally upon us! In approximately 24 hours (as of when I'm posting this), MINet 2.0 will be unleashed upon the world. The new website features a completely re-envisioned aesthetic quality, modern and professional in every way. It has a chat service that works (for those of you who remember my my online b-day party, pretty funny). There's tons of new information, including bios for our team, a re-vamped business section, superior navigation, and there's plenty more on the way as well... we'll be adding to MINet 2.0 indefinitely with new features as we think them up (or as they're suggested), and beefing up the content we have there now.

We need your opinions. Agent Dink has been slaving away at this website for ages now, working 29 hours a day, nine days a week, in the snow, up hill both ways and without shoes. Meanwhile Rami's been drinking margaritas with his feet up (on Dink's back, no less), watching all of the work transpire... totally kidding, I'm just saying that to get a rise out of Rami . Both of these guys worked their butts off to make our site as gorgeous and entertaining as possible, so please, direct your affection their way. All I did was stain my fingers with Doritos while these guys did all of the heavy lifting, lol. Anyway, any suggestions for new site features, alterations to the aesthetics (although I doubt you'll find any), etc. are greatly appreciated.

The Wait
For those of you who clicked the link already, yes, the site is down for 24 hours, and there's a countdown timer, ala Grand Theft Auto IV, letting you know when the site will go live. If you don't understand the relevance of the video we're showing on the website right now, you don't spend enough time watching late night television (that, or perhaps we spend too much). But watch the video anyway, if you don't cry laughing then you don't know the words. So yes, you're going to have to wait a while. The site will go live Saturday morning at 12:00am (so, friday night at midnight).

The Contest!
Some of you are regulars on our website and have been eagerly or semi-eagerly awaiting MINet 2.0. Some of you came to this thread and said "pfft, why do I care?" Well, we'll make you care! The second the site goes live, we're starting another contest, this one with even cooler prizes than the last one! When MINet 2.0 is launched, you'll see our mascot in the upper-left corner of the page. Right now, the little fella doesn't have a name... that's where you come in.

On the MISoft Forums, you'll find a thread asking you to name our mascot (it isn't up yet... wait until the site goes live). Post the name that you like for the mascot, and on March 1st 2008, the MISoft development team is going to vote on the best names presented. Read the thread before you post so you understand the rules. Finalists are going to win free copies of either Eternal Equinox or Real Estate Magnate when we release it (you get to choose either game), and the grand prize winner is going to be turned into a 2D fighter for our upcoming political fighting game, Capital Punishment, scheduled for release July 4th 2008! Pretty nifty, eh?

So yeah, please visit our new and improved website, MINet 2.0, and let us know what you think. The site is going live on Friday night/ saturday morning at 12:00am EST. Until then, enjoy the video .

Actually, that's pretty correct, yeah.

Why didn't you just wait until the website was actually online so you can post it up and have people comment on it?

I mean, I'm interested, there's just nothing to really post an opinion about...congrats on getting it done though!

I'd figure out an excuse like: "because we wanted everyone to get an even start on the launch. You can still give your opinion tomorrow. In the meanwhile, enjoy a horrible video ".

lol well, we had to have the funny video and countdown timer for the site. And if we announced it when the site went live, everyone would miss out on the hilarious video . It beats just going offline, hehehe.

Edit: lol no way, that video is awesome . If you know the words to the song he's attempting to sing, it's hilarious!

Darth, look at the timer again, hehehe. If it doesn't say 22 hours and 35 minutes then there's something wrong with the time zones... that'd be downright tragic, lol.

That's lame... I neglected to check that timer out between different time zones. I'll put a working one up ASAP...

Yah, the timer has more than 24 hours left for me.

And I agree that this should maybe have been posted when the site was actually live?

All fixed... Should work in any timezone now.

@Jeku, it was just for a little fun, everyone can have some anticipation... etc etc I mean, you gotta admit... the video is great!

It's sorta a moment to remember the horrible MINet 1.0 it is... now gone... forever. But it will live on in our hearts and on our backup folders on our hard drives. *sniff *whipes tear

Timer issues? What timer issues? The timer says 22 hours for me, which is definitely not 12:00AM for me.

Aww. MINet 1.0 is gone. We should've made a screenshot to remind everyone how good Matt is at HTML. And Banners.

Yeah, all of MINet 1.0 is backed up on my HD, maybe we can add a page in the "about" section, hehe, talk about our roots and all that . In fact, I think I still have screenshots of the site before everyone told me how to fix it. If you thought MINet 1.0 was bad, you should've seen 0.9 . Anyone remember the bright white text? I'm talking 255,255,255, lol, proper white, on the black background. And everything was in BMP format, lol, it took 9 hours to load . Oh, the good ole' days. But hey, I proudly admit to being the worst web designer and by far the worst artist on TGC (well, perhaps not proudly). MINet 1.0 was made entirely in Texture Maker and Gimp, with Nvu writing all of the code for me. I can always find a way to take "Lazy" to a whole other level when it comes to web stuff .

Interesting design the site has... bright colours and everything... you need to work on the content though. Putting videos of Matt Rock up there isn't enough.

you do realise that that is MINet 1.0? That they deleted half of yesterday. MINet 2.0 comes when the timer runs out.

I think you'll find that's some of Benjamin...er, I use this word loosely, 'wit', I use it loosely because he lives in France and I'm an Englishman in England, thus it is difficult for me to ever accept that people in France have such a thing.

Matt Rock, can't wait for the new site - it should suit your new releases for 2008/9 and the growing of MISoft.

It takes blood and guts to be this cool, but I'm still just a cliche

That video was interesting. I kept waiting for Ashton Kutcher to run out and tell the police department they'd been punked, but it never happened

With the video, I was confused...very confused...Was it that a police officer was asked to give a statement over microphone and sang or something? Or was he preparing for American Idol or something? Personally if he was, I think he did a good attempt - better than any of the artists on these 'karaoke' pop shows recently.

It's supposed to be the US national anthem .

I'm fairly sure he was meant to sing the American Anthem, but mixed up the words. I don't know much of the USA anthem, so it's hard to tell.

EDIT: Beat me to it Gil.

The purpose of this page, and video is supposed to look sorta like a tv station signing off late at night and going off the air. Generally they will play some patriotic video or the anthem before going off air. We just thought we'd do something like that with the site

lol well, we didn't want to be as annoying as much as we wanted to be silly . Do they have that in Britain? Like, when a non-cable TV station is going off the air, do they do a station ID, followed by God Save the Queen, followed by color bars and that annoying drone until they come back online?

Dunno, the time my Sky TV is off the air or out of signal I get an error message. Normal TV? Dunno, not seen it off air for years...but we English aren't patriotic in the same way you yanks are so, I sincerely doubt 'God save the Queen' is played...maybe 'God save my arse because my boss is gonna sack me, as we're off the air'.

I don't know of any stations here that aren't active 24/7, even if it's just paid programming, and I've also never seen one play a patriotic song before they sign off, but I guess it depends on the region .

Come to think of it, if any of our channels (aside from Sky TV) were to go off air or have technical difficulties then no doubt the tabloids would kick up a fuss. As top professional broadcasters no doubt should have all the up to date stuff and for it to be checked regularly and a backup plan available. Whereas we measly amateur radio dudes can't even afford replacements for a couple of weeks if a piece of equipment breaks down. (Unless it's urgent)

Here's a video of the typical sign-off that we're talking about. You have to watch the non-cable networks, like CBS, ABC, and NBC. They usually show them on saturdays and sundays at around 4am or 5am. Although normally they just fill in dead air time with infomercials nowadays.

Benjamin, please redesign IE for me... then I can make it work on all platforms. Until then I removed actually being able to click the whole box. Either that or I have to recode the dropdowns in some new way... not a priority really at the moment, there's still lots of work to do on this site, this is only the first version. We have alot more planned

Though I'll tell you one thing. I did forget about that issue Ben ^_^ I grew accustomed to it.
