Or in normal speak, the rules for this board. I just thought this might attract the attention of the people who actually need to read some rules to adhere common sense.
The rules here are pretty basic, but they are applied strictly by the mod force. There's three golden rules for Geek Culture, besides the normal AUP of which I'll give a really fast rundown:
No spamming, no blatant advertising, no l33tsp34k, no harassing/insulting, not too political or religious debate.
First and foremost: Geek Culture is NOT a democracy. Nor are these forums. These rules are the houserules, and you're the guest. Saying that you 'should be allowed to post what you want' and utter stuff about 'freedom of speech' and 'democracy' is a shortcut to a slap. They don't count here.
Geek Culture is pretty loose in the additional rules - pretty much everything goes as long as it is in a way, important to life or considered an interesting read for geeks. This means we do not need to know when you've got a new girlfriend - Geeks don't care. Actually, we don't care unless something really life-altering happens. Marriage, sure thing. Death of loved ones, okay. Thus:
Rule 1/3: Life-altering real-life stuff is okay.
Then, Geek Culture is abused on daily basis with little games. The Posting Competition, Corrupt a Wish and similar games can rapidly grow, and while it might be good for your e-Ego to finally have a thread that attracts more than 25 non-flaming posts, they do flood the important stuff like RAM-upgrades and Windows vs Linux flamewars.
Rule 2/3: Never more than 3 games at a time
Finally, we can't care less if you disagree with a mod. Heck, probably we think the mods are right, simply because you're a total noob and don't understand the rules. If you've got beef with one of our respected and omnipotent moderators, please contact them through their e-mail. Also, don't post if they haven't replied within 20 minutes, as hard as it may be to believe, these people have lives too and need to spend quality time with their consoles every now and then.
Rule 3/3: Geek Culture is not the complain-board.
Last thing, in Geek Culture, off-topic can be on-topic. Don't be surprised as topics take major turns within the first four posts. While this is discouraged, it's the nature of the board.
Rule 4/3: Nothing has to make sense in Geek Culture.
That's about it. Maybe someone will actually read this. I don't know. Was worth a try
