Umm... this is officially announced on the DragonBall Z website and there's also some info on IMDB...

The Mayans were wrong the end of the world is August 28 2008.

http://www.dragonballz.com/index.cfm?page=liveaction&CFID=2508630&CFTOKEN=20962721

Straight from the official DBZ site ^

This is going to be the worst movie ever, but I will have to go see it... There's just no way to avoid it.

actually I think the first bad thing about this movie is the fact that Goku won't have his awesome hair... or so it seems from the set pics that were released Who knows though... we'll see...

The end of the world was the invention of the computer, ultimately. Without computers, this movie would never have existed.

Anyways, I'm not really a fan but I used to watch DBZ all the time. I just gotta say people add too much stuff to the original. Some stuff is fine, but once you go through so many levels of alteration, its no longer original and thats why I'm no longer a fan.

Not intended to disregard it, but now I must see this movie too

Cheers,

DragonBall and DragonBall Z were both really good. DragonBall had sort of a rocky start in all honesty, and DBZ's last few enemies were kinda different, but I liked it all.

DBGT on the other hand... It had some cool stuff to it, but really I think it gives the other 2 series a bad name and this movie probably won't help that bad image.

Come on people, honestly, DBGT sucked beyond belief. Period. DBZ was amazing and DB was plain good. I think the Android Sagas - Cell Sagas are the best Dragonball made.

Honestly, a real life movie? That's so going to destroy my vision of Dragonball that I refuse to go see it in cinema. I get visions of little Japanese kids doing kungfu stuff with an occasional Kamehameha shout on their schoolyard.

I don't know, the cast seems decent. I'm glad there's no giant anime hair/wig, that would be obscene. Hopefully they don't create a DBZ Fan Torture movie but a solid comic adaptation, ala Batman Begins, X-Men, and Spiderman. I didn't like Superman Returns, btw, because all it did was dig up Superman's tired zombie from his super grave and sent him on the same old super-adventure he's always been on.

For a movie like DBZ to work the focus couldn't be on the super magical powers of the characters, it would be like Mortal Combat, but worse because even that's been done before. If it doesn't focus on the powers then it isn't really DBZ, but in the end all that matters is making a good movie.

Actually it's Dragonball, not Dragonball Z. To be exact, the King Piccolo Saga.

I think without the wigs, and uberblasts, nothing will really work out. Thank god there's no Super Saiyan stuff going on, actors screaming as if they're castrated without being anesthesed (?) and suddenly turning blonde and 4 times as muscular.

Hope this is not from the movie, while hilarious to watch it doesn't make a good movie. Oh, and he doesn't fall through the cloud...

That... is from an old DragonBall movie. Flippin' hilarious... Now I want to see the whole thing. All I know is Roshi better have a decent sized beard in this coming movie...

They all need their real hairstyles or it's gonna be lame... Errrr.

Well that's going to be the worst birthday present ever.

On that note, I lost all interest in Dragon Ball once the fights started to consist of thirty episodes of the opponents yelling at each other. But I'll go see this movie for a laugh.

That's the Freeza battle, it's as low as DB gets (DBGT included). IIRC the Freeza battle took around 45 eps, counting from when all his minions where beaten.

Dragonball was nice when it was action, but like 7 episodes just seeing them shout and punch eachother, Nah. nothing funny in that.

And A movie? Hmm, intresting...It might either become terrible, or very good.

While I prefer the Saiyan Saga... The Frieza battle was definitely awesome. What you smokin'? It was great!

ONLY 3 MINUTES UNTIL NAMEK EXPLODES

*20 episodes later*

NAMEKS ABOUT TO BLOW ANY SECOND NOW, GOKU AND FRIEZE ARE STILL YELLING AT EACH OTHER! TUNE IN NEXT TIME FOR THE NEXT EPISODE OF DRAGON BALL Z!!!!!

Classic.

And what's up with that whole spirit bomb crap? Oh, this guy is about to blow up the world, I guess I'll wait for a few hours and then pull plant energy out of my ass.

The spirit bomb was a total cop-out. They made Goku's fight impossible, then created a magical fix when the fight seemed lost. I think the writers got tired of thinking up new stuff and the spirit bomb was the 'reset' button.

Like said, Android - Cell Sagas were best. DBZ is still the strongest DB series for me.

Actually, guys this might not be so bad. The director is the guy who directed 'The One' (great Jet Li movie) and Final Destination 1. Not such bad movies. What's really great though is the producer is Stephen Chow. He made Kung Fu Hustle (brilliant movie) and some other nice ones.

Yea, but what if these guys were making a movie about a potato? Even great directors can't make something better than what it is. I dunno, DB might be a good movie, but probably not. But all I can picture is a crappy B movie version in my head... so yea. Hard to call this one.

Quote: "Final Destination 1."

Time to get an actual good taste and common sense. Final Destination was a simple cash-in on all the horror things that were total hype back then.

Dragonball is anime, people. Anime. Anime doesn't work with real life people. It destroys the personality and our brains can't link them actors with our idea of the personalities. Every film that has been made with absurd fighting as main subject sucked beyond belief, and even movies with brief fights of that type (read: Matrix 3) or terrible.

I hate it. Already. Goku is not a real life person.

Hahahaha

By the way, I liked Final Destination one, but not so much. It was better than most scary movies of it's time and our time.
The One, on the other hand, was great.

Matrix 1 was very fight oriented but it was good. Matrix 2 and 3 were just bad sequels, filling in time in order to take more money from moviegoers. There should have only been two movies, that might have been better.

The good part about a DB movie is that a movie is so short that you can't have people just looking at each other for minutes, or fighting the same battle for hours. If they are going to base the movie on the series then it will be in a compressed format so we might never get bored watching it. With todays special effects and costume design etc. it might just look great.

BTW, I love Kung Fu Hustle It got amazing battles and great humor.

The problem with sequels like those in Matrix, Highlander and Bourne is that the first movie was a complete story and then you attach something else on it. While I've seen The fellowship of the ring more then the sequels you really see that the three movies is one complete story.
