FINALLY, the only event i have been looking forward to all week since it sucked badly.

This thing is a 17 inch M570RU (Google it, you\'ll find a lot on it)

The gem if this notebook is an 8800M GTX w 512 Mb of dedicated ram

the rest is kinda higher end standard these days,

C2D 2.2ghz dual core 4mb cache
2gb of ram ddr2 667
100gb 7200rpm hd

the first thing i tried is Oblivion on full settings mostly runs extremely smooth with slight chugs here and there

next i threw Crisis at it, damn

all settings hight (maximum for DX9, DX10 very high settings is not available because i have win XP)
I only turned off Anti aliasing and toned down shadows to medium.

The thing runs like heaven

i love it.

I didnt only buy it only for dx10, i bought it because the thing is the most powerful mobile gpu on the market.

The previous most powerful one was m7950gtx the 8800gtx is significantly faster

Nice laptop, specs may seem ordanary to a desktop but for a laptop that needs to keep heat to minimum it very top end.

Just use MSN Messangers web cam util, it's what i use to test webcames as everyone has MSN in windows almost.

DinoHunter (still no nVidia compo voucher!), CPU/GPU Benchmark, DarkFish Encryption DLL, War MMOG (WIP), 3D Model Viewer

speaking of heat, i am very impressed. running crysis and oblivion on full load, the highest temperature it reached was by my standards very warm, just a little below of what i would consider "hot"-(hot meaning unable to hold it for a while without feeling the burn)

my previous msi laptop -(rest in peace you served me very well and taught me many things), when playing a game, hell i could iron a shirt with it or even toast a bagel, Once i put an English muffin underneath the laptop while playing a game in a few minutes, it wasn't toasty but nice and hot, i nicknamed it "the heater" and also used as one. even my friends kitten liked to cuddle up next to the vent of my laptop Good times i had with that thing and i will greatly miss it.

so as i said, the cooling on this thing is amazing as far as i know it has 2 or 3 fans inside it. but i haven't looked inside of it yet (that might void my warranty).

Just wait, you'll regret the laptop purchase. I bought a new one in 2005 and could play all the games, and now I can't upgrade it at all. I bought a new desktop a few weeks ago and all is good again.

oh, well thats too bad for you because my laptop IS upgradeable.
the video card is upgradeable (yes the started making upgradable video cards for laptops also many reviews pointed out that my laptop is upgradeable to newer processors like the Intel merom, not sure if it came out yet.

besides, top of the line laptops will still be good for at least 5 years

Lol... no, sorry, not true. 5 years from now you'll be laughing at the current technology, just like we laugh at technology 5 years before today.

That's like saying the Radeon 9800 is still a good video card...

Hmmm, we shall see. If I remember rightly when I bought my Dell laptop a few years ago they had a model that could upgrade the graphics. They came out with one card for it, ever. And that cost a bomb, and was only a bit better than the original. Think Alienware did the same thing with almost identical outcome.

Cheers

I am 99% probably lying in bed right now... so don't blame me for crappy typing

dude, my radeon 9800XT was the best thing that ever happened to me before this laptop, It was more powerful than my laptops x700 back then, my setup also included a P4 3ghz, a gig and a half of ram, this setup was considered a legit gaming rig. it could play most recent high graphic games like half life2, oblivion, FEAR. and NO it was not on ultra low settings I played oblivion on medium-high settings and FEAR on ALL high settings.

unfortunately it was thrown out against my will, otherwise i would still be using it today

so DO NOT INSULT A RADEON 9800(XT)

i think a few years ago, the upgradeable video cards were still being worked on, the real deal became standard only 1-2 years ago in most gaming laptops like alienware, (i never heard of a dell with a removable video chip whats the model)?

my model of the laptop w 8800m gtx so far avaliable with 2 models of quadro gpus and a 7950 gtx and an 8700 gt.

recently i heard ITI released a new mobile videocard that i might be able to upgrade to. its one of them HD3000.

also, i think graphics will not get much better any time soon. Look at crysis, it already looks better than real life We have almost mastered photo realistic graphics. What will keep going forward is the screen resolution. and maybe a defferent way of rendering stuff might get invented.

It doesn't look better than real life

It looks nice, but there is plenty they can add to it. Each leaf needs physics and at least a 512x512 texture. They need to just color the grassy areas of the terrain as dirt and use a grass engine to fill it in. Each grass blade needs physics with breakable joints so it can leave foot prints. The water needs to ripple and move 100% in 3d, and the only shader it should have is a reflection shader. All the refraction and reflection should be done with true polygons. The terrain needs to be destroyable, the broken tree stump textures need to wrap better... Ok, I could keep nitpicking but I won't

Crysis is a great game!

dude, what you are describing isn't photorealism, You are describing uber vitual reality thingy.

there were a few photographs compared with screenshots of crysis, and funny enough, crysis looked better than the photos. the shadows were sharper overall resolution was higher, the only thing that gave it away was some repearting texture of grass
