I guess you would call it a decal.... Anyways here is what Ive been playing with. This will allow you to take any wall texture (i.e. plaster wall or stonewall)and turn that single photo into a quick wall set...

Photo is below....

I will post more when more work is done. Video should be coming soon to...

Nice work! You should add in some nails on the boards if you haven't already. Maybe some bent ones that were hammered in poorly.
They remind me of the mine-textures BrotherTank made on the DieHard Wolfers forums a while ago.

Thanks for the comments guys

There are alot of imperfections in the wood you can not see because those textures your looking at are in 128x128 format and doesnt show the knots, carvings, and other imperfections. (I know looks blan)

My initial plans are to complete the images right now I am at 25 pieces (still finishing the final 10 mask). I may include another 10 pieces before calling it quits as far as how many then recolor the wood to give it a more ageds look (may also do light wood and dark wood) then take those sets and grunge them up by adding knots, carvings, warps, moss and other imperfections you would see on the wood. So you can see I am far from being done. But a task worth being done

of the decals are 512x512 and the work was originally done in 1024x1024 and alienskin wood filters

Update...

Got the next 10 done so got a total of 25 in the set so far.

Should be doing the recoloring tonight so there is a choice from light wood and dark wood. Then to finish things up I will grunge things up and then this should be finished.

Tschwarz,
It would be nice if there were an addition to Signs or a stand alone app which would allow you to import the images for the overlays and put them in their proper places, etc.
I could do this manually but if I made an overlay to give away on the forums I would like it to be as simple as possible for the newcomers. It would also speed up the process of making an overlay.
Another thing I thought about was what if you could make a segment and then place entities into it (like furnishing a room) and then save the whole thing as a segment (static entities are rendered as part of the background anyways).
Just a couple of thoughts.
Clips,
This stuff looks great.A welcome addition to any developer's media.

Hey Fred,

I had thought about creating a simple application a few times that would allow texture decals to be easily imported into Signs but, to be honest I'm not sure if people are creating them. Actually, I was presently surprised to see these that CLiPs is creating. I will be adding these to Signs and they will be available in the Full and Trial version of Signs.

If there are more people creating Texture Decals I would like to know and then would take the time to create a way to add, delete, insert etc.. Texture Decals into Signs.

Edit:
Also Keith has been doing some uvmaps and textures for S3D and one of the inside textures is in the same style has above. Cottage / Fantasy textures look really good in game. IMO (always wanted to say that)

I have made a few overlays myself so it would be useful to me...and Clips,of course.I have no problem replacing doors, windows and stuff like that with an overlay that is part of the segment. If you don't use it then it's just eye candy anyways and making stuff like that into overlays just makes sense to me.

Please have mercy and use the search function.

Okay this may be the way these textures will flow from the entire set.
As promised recolored and grunged up a bit.

I wanted to drop in a sample and get some opinions on what you all feel about this if this is likeable then I can have this set completed fairly quickly on my end and please give Tschwarz some time to wrap this up and make sure you buy your copy of signs..

PS... If you don't have your copy there is a trial version and you will see the this set in the trail version to...

You can already include custom overlays into Signs. It's just that for distribution purposes and to save time it would be easier if you just imported the overlay images and Signs put everything where it went.Being able to add overlays is one of the many things that makes Signs the excellent program it is.As time goes on I have no doubt Tschwarz will continue to streamline this amazing application.
I have been playing with S3D and let me tell you that it is going to make my life a lot easier.
I never know what Tschwarz is going to think up next but I drool in anticipation.

I have added the cottage wood decals into the Signs 4.2.9 install. I'm just checking to make sure the install works and then I'll upload it to the fpsconline.com site.
