I remember you posted your age once by accident. Let's just say, why are you playing violent games such as Postal at your age?

Maybe by creating a match wepaon (like the grenade) that trhows away a flak (or whatever its called) that looks like a match to. Then you have the pertolcan as an explodable entity. Throw the can were you want it (maybe by a door or something) and throw a match.

Would it work?

Maybe the anything you are referring to could be made of petrol oil?

You could make a Match+Petrol weapon like the animation shows him laying petrol on the floor then the match shows and he throws it and the fire is part of the animation.

that would be pretty cool when the player is able to do it in mid air.

Apparantly not. I've been playing violent games since I first heard of Medal of Honor and Max Payne (2001-2003ish) and I have no problems playing theme. I pick up a GTA game that says Sexual Themes on the back, I put it back down and hunt for another product.

Back on topic, a match and petrol would be nice for destroying a fake wall or floor.

I read some article or something a while ago that normal people aren't affected by video game violence in a way that it changes their personality. The only ones who were affected, around three percent or so, already had mental problems to begin with.

Well, I read that games/moves/books etc. can't affect people, but it can be thing that starts the "eruption" if someone was such man already...

i read something similar to that once, i think violent, horror etc. games only affect people who actually imitate them such as small children as seen in my post above (although i am not a small child)

on topic: yes a working match and dynamic petrol would be very nice to add that bioshock type feel to your game and burn those little buggers!

You could make a weapon that lets you hold a can of petrol that's open with a rag sticking out of it with one hand and the other hand holds a lighter/match. when you shoot you light the rag, throw it and it explodes after 3 seconds or something. The flak could look like a can of petrol. When you fire the muzzle-flash could be the lighter/match igniting. Not perfect but it would work.

Hi Peter Gee

This is totally possible (most things are in FPSC). I figured this out whilst spending a bunch of time improving my scripting knowledge.

Please enjoy the video attached. I'm sure you can modify the implementation to create the effect your looking for.

If your interested let me know and I'll dig the scripts out for you.

When I was about 13 I was going to buy CoD 3, the only thing they asked were: "You know that this game is for 16+?" Then I gave him my money and I got the game, I didnt even have my parents

No worries. Here are the 2 scripts you require.

I've included installation instructions for them as per the video effect so you can just change the barrel entity for a petrol canister but theres plenty of scope for modifications.

FPSC is actually quite capable in terms of scripted events.

I once bought a game rated 16 when I was 12, my dad was with me, so when I asked for it and the Guy behind the counter said no, I passed my money and the game to my dad and he bought it, all perfectly legal too!

Nice work Nomad Soul, very cool. That could add a nice effect to certain barrels... Nice framerate

Though I'm not sure a weapon can spawn another entity...unless it's a flak item that is triggered to explode in 99999999999999999999999 seconds and make it able to be explodable. So when the match explodes, it blows up all the petrol flak that you just spurted. The petrol flak would have to be VERY heavy and non-rotate-able, so a flat flak image plops on the ground, instead of the petrol flying across the room and the flat thing rotating everywhere. I'll make a bad diagram in paint to further clarify what I mean...

EDIT: Like my diagram?
