Hey guys, the four48 hour team is trying to beat paper mario in 17 hours. You can watch the live stream right here.

The four48 team plays marathons of games and streams it on the internet. Their primary focus is raising money for child's play an organization run by penny arcade that gets video games to kids in hospitals. Please help this cause by visiting the stream and donating to the cause. Also digg us up, help get the word out.

Who would sit there for hours watching people play video games?

... I watch my friends play video games for hours all the time; ie Mass Effect. I highly recommend this for all indi game programmers: It's really interesting seeing how other people play through a game and gives a ton of insight you don't always get by playing it yourself. Watching complete strangers for hours though would feel a bit strange. It'd be interesting to poke my head in every few minutes though If I were surfing the web.

It really depends on the game... I could never watch anyone play Paper Mario though... It'd have to be something fast paced or something.

My little brothers will just watch each other or me play video games alllll day. I don't know how it entertains them. Ugh.

I've never been the type to just sit down watching someone else play unless we are taking turns (like playing every other life or level). There's nothing more frustrating then watching someone who can't play (like someone stupid or new to the whole idea). As a game dev it is a very good idea to watch others play your game for the first time. This is how you can perfect your game.

Oh, and I have to sign up to see this so I'm not gonna bother.
