Has any one here played half life? I would love to have some story things like that, you can still move around wile the story is going on.

These would be trigger events in a level and could be simulated by simply forcing entities to move around upon being activated by a trigger zone.

Yes u can use a trigger event for create a simply "story line" whit charatter allied and sound event for simply speech!

Ahhhh....

The good ol' days....

Half-Life had such a great beginning, and while you couldn't really do anything during it's trademark "disaster scenes" except run around like a headless chicken, it was great to be able to do that rather than watch a video.....

Also, the little side scenes, like scientists fighting the creatures and getting killed were great too....

Well...um...for, let's say, a zombie walking then killing another guy. You would make the zombie spawn and follow a waypoint when you step over a trigger zone. Then, the guy would have a timer once you step on the trigger zone. Then the zombie, once he has reached the end of the waypoint, would activate his attack animation. The timer on the guy would be timed just right so that when the zombie "attacks" the guy carries out a death script. Simple, if you just screw around a bit... BTW: Are timers even possible?

Yeh, you can tell an NPC to die after a certain amount of time. Just right click him.

I'd look into the manual for some scripting commands too, they might prove usefull.
