Something new from valve, looks to me like a development tool of some kind. And, it's free apparently. I'm interested in what kinds of things people will do with this.

This could potentially mean a lot more mods and games from indie developers. A plus for us, huh?

Discuss!

Putting it in a link doesn't take 2 seconds.
I don't really know what to make of it to be honest.

I think it's mainly for using Valves community features and programming for the Steam service.

Would be nice to see an nice big influx of indie games on Steam. Goodness knows they've got a base enough that could make it worthwhile for both parties.

Whoops... it was a copy and paste mistake, BiggAdd. I humbly bow in apology.

It's going to be a fairly sweet system.
I reckon it is actually to pre-empt what Microsoft plan to do with XNA.. right now Steam is basically Xbox Live Marketplace for Windows; and what Games for Windows Live should have been.

Be interesting to see how this all pans out.
Certainly will make developer life much easier, with a fairly simple "one-click" publishing and tool aquirement system.

I heard that Softimage|XSI will be released on it, but not much other news has been squeezed from Valve. They're totally going to screw Microsoft over on the PC market with basically the same product Microsoft are killing the other consoles with. Ironic and funny ^_^
