i am making a video in the windows movie maker and it seemes that often there are same spots in the video that freeze or get choppy yet once in a while they play very smooth. i am still in the editor, will the choppiness stop when i export?

From my experience with Windows Movie Maker, the choppiness goes away somewhat but not completely, it's rather odd as the choppiness changes at random. Personally, I would recommend using a different video compositing program and it doesn't have to be an expensive one either, try the free version of Avid, perhaps that will help.

The choppiness has gone away for me after exporting, and the resolution will also go back up . Export it and play the .wmv file, it should be pretty high quality and smooth.

I'm yet to successfully play a video using Windows Movie Maker or Windows Media Player. Choppiness, lack of audio sync, poor colour and amplified compression artifacts spoil the experience.

I'm using Vista, and movie maker runs great for me, high res in editor, good sound, it's fine. Don't know what your problem could be though.

XP with a four year old PC. That's the problem.

Not that either WinAmp or PowerDVD have any troubles playing videos, though.

I suspect xp is reading/writing to disk during your video.
