5th submission for game review job.

Well right now I'm looking for a part-time job into game reviewing, and have just sent in my fifth e-mail offering my proposels/skills/etc.

Maybe if you guys pray for me, I might get this job.

Lol, just wanted to let you know that I'm trying to get even further into the game industry, and if I make it in, I'll be sure to tell you guys.

I wish you a lot of luck-- reviewing seems like a very intresting job. Hope you're accepted!

(By the way, does anyone know if the game reviewer Pete Hines is the same as the Bethesda Public Relations Manager Pete Hines? Maybe you'll chat with him if you're accepted )

I will do, maybe I will get a 6th job submission ,lol.As long as I get one of them.

I'm really not going for pay(but that'd be perferred)I'm just hoping to get to keep any hardware/software I review(which is what will happen), plus then I'll at least be able to say I have experience if I apply somewhere else later in my life.

But I'm praying every minute that I get to chat with one of the recruiters.

I GET THE JOB!

Well, I'm a bit excited and am gonna work on it after I finish checking other e-mail, and posting here.

(I think it's working Solidz Snake, have you been praying 3 times?)

I sent in my (demo review we'll call it), on Unreal tournament 2003.(for pc)

I havn't heard a reply yet, but I'm hoping for good news.

by the way the site is http://www.neomega.net/index.php

I don't know what I'll be getting paid for I havn't asked (waiting for right moment if I get accepted, hehe) , but as long as I get this job it will be good experience, so I can at least say I was a game reviewer if I ever apply elsewhere.

Hey u should treat me one day dude! I prayed for ya (really i did!) and I'm the one introduce about this game review job in the other topic! (so.. lunch at LA one day? lol!)

In another word, Congratulations dude
U are one example to anybody here who are eager to find jobs, without the care of 'pay/not pay', but concentrating on the experience first while in the young age.

It also shows that hard effort in search of jobs (5th submissions, i presume) does pays off to ppl who nvr give up on their dreams

Rezpect & kudos to ya

Yea, thanks Solidz, I dunno about lunch in LA, but I'll work out something for ya.

I still eagerly await a reply from the webmaster.
I'll post my review if it gets published, or even if I don't get accepted here at the DB forums.

Wooohooo

(Although you're math is a bit off-- that's only assuming that each job has a 1/5 chance of hiring you)

Let's figure out this math

5 companies(we'll just call them companies)
1/2 chance I get hired from each of the companies
10 total chances overall from 5 companies
2 companies are interested
4 total chances
2 of those chances= yes
2/10 chance of getting hired

20% chance I get hired for a game review job(unless my math is wrong)

Ok I'm just really bored, and watching my hotmail inbox on my other open window, I better start programming or something.

edit: of course they may not like my review, so that kinda interferes with everything.

Yes, but alongside thr fact that 20% is NOT 2/5 (lol), you're not accounting for the chance that they wouldn't like your review

edit-- ah. You see one of the problems

Lol, yea I think I did a good review on Unreal tournement 2003 so the only reasons they wouldn't except is.

a.) only 14
b.) review isn't good enough
c.) they find someone else
d.) there's always a D

ok mouse, let's just keep the percentage around 10-20%

Well just an opinion but I would have reviewed a game that was a little less covered. My reason behind this is that if everyone is reviewing the same game it might get dull to the employer reading them. By reviewing a lesser covered, yet still well know, game you might have a better chance. But like I said it just an opinion, and I don't have any clue as to what these guys look for when reviewing possible employes. Hell, for all I know they asked you to review that game, making my look like a fool.

Well they didn't ask me to review a game specifically, but at the two sites that I had asked for a review, neither of them had reviews of Unreal Tournement 2003, so I think I made the right move.
(I got a little lucky, huh.)

Well, I'm still awaiting e-mails, and am hoping that this reviewing things pulls through.

I am definitly considering to do a special on some selected DB games if I get permission from my boss, but this will be after I've gained some respect and trust from him, so I wouldn't even bother asking him at least a month.

Although I'm trying to take this one step at a time, and first get the job, then worry about what I'm reviewing.

Still no replies from my e-mails, but its only been a couple hours since I first got them (22 hours since they were sent in), but I figure I will hear an update somewhere around this time tomorrow.

(keep praying for me )

I got a reply from the company that I wanted to hear from.
(the other I don't really care for)

He said that I just needed to revise my writing a little more, and then if I could do that I'd be added to the staff, so I may be part of a company in about a week.

As for a review on DB games, yea I'll have to wait till I see a showcase of good games, like arrow said.I know this won't be a problem though.
