I have found quite a few music files from games that have been arranged and remixed. Usually they are in a "mod" type format or midi. There are programs that will convert .mod type files into .wav such as CDMaster32. The most common .mod files are .mod, .it, .xm, and .s3m. Some nice remixes out there that can be used in at least non-commercial games. Since some of them do not even sound like the original game music I'm not sure where that falls in the copyright situation.

As opposed to Highlander.
