If anyone (not just you) contravenes the AUP, any mod (not just me) will lock the thread and if necessary noob slap or ban the culprit.

I suggest you read the following thread very carefully:

http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=116024&b=10

Anyone who stays within the forum rules has nothing to worry about.

and

Quote: "13. Please Avoid Shorthand ('Text Speak')

This is a forum and you are using a computer. Note that it doesn't say 'Nokia' on the side of it so it's not a phone!

Joking aside, text speak, although not specifically classed as 'not allowed' by the AUP, can be difficult for some people to read.

Unlike phone text messages, there's no limit to the number of characters you can type in a post on a forum, so there's no real reason to use it.

Bad spelling and grammar is something entirely different and others shouldn't pull you up over it. But 'ur', 'u', 'wot', 'l8r' and all the other endless possibilities should be avoided for the benefit of others.
"

Sorry! But it very much annoys me.

EDIT .................

Quote: "13. Please Avoid Shorthand ('Text Speak')"

should read

14. Please Avoid Shorthand ('Text Speak')

Looks like something may have been added since this post.

To Zorek

Pardon me for asking, but is English your native language? This is dreadful. Not only is your grammar and spelling atrocious, but so is your punctuation.

i told you no more talking about the spelling problems i also forgot to mention that i liek to type fast and sometimes i go too fast and make a spelling error. i do that alot. and punctuation, again, is a port of the fast typing. and once again i said do not post any more on the spelling errors. again, i like to type fast and i don't notice the errors ok.

@Gearce.

It would be possible to find refutable connotations in your idiom, but I really wouldn't want to endeavor in that. I do not think picking apart someone's maladroit typing skills is conducive to the thread.

@Zorek.

I found a cool place for text I do not know exactly if it will work, but the text looked very nice. Here is the linkhttp://cooltext.com/Fonts-Gothic

Yes, the spelling, grammar and punctuation in many of Zorek's posts is appalling, but these skills are not a prerequisite for using these forums. It's also not actually against the AUP.

However, if they are so bad it's quite difficult for others to figure out what is being said, (especially for users where English is not their first language), then it's detrimental to the poster too - as no-one is going to respond to posts they can't understand.

If it's due to:

Quote: "i liek to type fast"

then that's just being lazy!

After typing a post, I have a special method I use to correct any errors I make when typing a post. It's called READING IT!

I do this before pressing the little Post Message button. It takes all of a few seconds and is a common courtesy to other forum users.

If I spot anything later on, I use the Edit button.

It's really not that difficult...

The TGC forums are English only forums.

All your posts recently seem to contain huge chunks of Greek, Dutch, French or whatever.

I couldn't read any of them, so I hope that while they were visible they were more useful than many of your English posts!

Please stick to posting in English because I'm now getting tired of deleting them!

You didn't say that your thread on Geeks was going to be a game. If you had I would have said that the mods who work in there have set a limit on the number of games there... and it would be locked!

You made it sound like a new thread on the subject of spamming which is something quite different.

I've left it for the other mods to approve/lock/delete as they see fit.

Quote: "how come after you locked my other thread i had to wiat fo the approvel for a new post or tread again."

You get noob slapped if you deliberately continue bending the forum rules after being warned. Continue and the slap period gets longer... and longer...

Your other post was possibly locked for whatever you (or someone else) did, without anyone issuing an 'official' warning and therefore the mod decided that a lock was enough without slapping anyone.

@gearce

dude what's your problem.

first i thought i closed my spelling error discussion a long time ago.

and how in the world am i spamming? the one time with the double post was so i can put in some attachments.

gosh.

and this post is about the progress of my game.

and i see no purpose in locking this thread.

and are you a guy that was created to find the smallest error in everyone and make a big deal about it, because in most of your posts you've critized someone! correction all of your posts!!!

@everyone else

i was working on the main charecter inculding animations. it took me like an hour to make. mostly because i was following a tutorial on animation. but i was making the scene and all of a sudden the program stopped working and i forgot to save so this might take a while. but it wasn't so good because it was my first exp with living beings.

Stop spamming. Posting crap which has nothing to do with the current thread subject isn't helpful... but is annoying!

Quote: "i was wondering if i got nooby slapped for that last thread. "

I don't know - I didn't slap you, but I came very close!

Quote: "and i was also wondering if can make a thread called "the voting thread""

If it's a forum game then no. If it's not then you take your chances like everyone else. It will get locked or deleted if it's just a stupid waste of time and of no real use to anyone.

Why don't you just think of something useful or interesting to post about?

Quote: "i don't know if it's against the AUP so that's why i'm asking"

Have you even read it?

Quote: "and i don't want to make a new post so i can earn the 2nd page of this thread with out my posts."

I get the impression you think a forum is some sort of competition to see who can get the most replies in their thread. It isn't.

If your thread isn't interesting enough - or you annoy people by ignoring advice (like not checking your posts before pressing the Post Message button) you won't get many replies.

alright TDK not to be mean or anything, but just because i'm new, and this actually the first forum i got into, and you're a mod doesn't mean that you can take some of my opinions, like having a pop post, and use them against me.

i just like having a popular post. i for one think it's cool and that is one of the reasons that i joined this forum.

when it comes to imagination i'm like a 5 year old. so i think of some really cool things to do. and this, i thought was cool, was going to be fun stuff on this forum and maybe have some unique threads.

and i always read my new posts like 10 times a day.

and besides my thread isn't that intresting right now because i just started.

by the way i'm looking for some free world builders.

i have been searching in google (before you ask) and i really couldn't find anything good.

the same goes with textures.

and besides i can barely find any time during the week except for weekends.

so hopefuly this thread can stay up for a while atleast until i can get some more progress done.

thanks,
Zorek
and this is going to be the last off topic post unless necessary.

Not sure that I know what you mean there. I've not used anything against you. All I've done is told you where you have done something on here that is likely to annoy other users. That's more than most new users get.

When you sign up to this forum there's a bit which says that 'you agree to the rules of the forum'. By joining, you agreed to this. It's not our fault if you didn't read them.

I think that you'll find that all forums have similar rules to this one - as you'll discover when you start using them.

There are also stickies at the top of each board which tell you important information you should read before posting. Once again, it's not our fault if you didn't read them.

Did you read the following thread carefully as I suggested earlier:

Read Me!

...as you still don't seem to have got the idea about how this forum should be used.

Quote: "i just like having a popular post."

That's all well and good, but you have to remember that it's others that make your thread popular not you - you can't force others to read it or post in it. If you do by multiple posting (spamming) you start to get annoying and people will tell you so.

This forum is basically support for TGC product users where they get help and answers to their questions. Dozens of pointless posts simply push more important ones down the page. That's why the mods on Geek Culture enforce a limit to the number of silly games on there.

Quote: "and i always read my new posts like 10 times a day"

You should read them before you post them and correct the errors.

Quote: "so hopefuly this thread can stay up for a while atleast until i can get some more progress done."

To be honest, this one should be locked for the use it is. The opening post is simply telling us about a game that doesn't exist. If it did, then it's a work in progress (WIP) and should be on the WIP board.

But, for it to be there you need to show progress, screen-shots, demo etc. - which you haven't got.

Either way it would normally be locked. However I'll leave it unlocked as long as it stops you posting junk anywhere else.

The questions you have asked in this and your other threads are all answered in the stickies at the top of this board and to be honest, if you'd read the thread I've linked you to twice already, we wouldn't be having to tell you all of this.

So far I've been as pleasant as I can be and offered you help and advice. But I've wasted far too much time doing so and from this moment on I have no option but to assume that you have read the above thread and the AUP and know the rules.

We enforce these rules with everyone who breaks them - not just you. Those who play within the rules are left well alone. Please make sure that from now on, you fall into this category!

Read what TDK said: If the game existed, it should be in WIP. It doesn't exist (read the line before it).

I was debating about whether or not to jump into this. However, I finally decided to point out to you that this thread actually shows no progress whatsoever on any game. If you spent a little less time arguing with people about forum rules and more time working on your project, so you actually had something to show, people would be much less antagonistic.

And in answer to one of your questions you asked earlier, do a search for "level creator" or "world builder" or something like that. You'll find loads of stuff.

in all fairness, this thread, and the one before is a shining example of how much people like to argue and be noticed
@Zorek
I contend that forums are not the place to be infamous [not to be confused with famous,popular,noticed,ect,... ] as it has a way of annoying a great many people. I strongly suggest that you start working on your game and concentrate your efforts on asking questions pertaining to how things could best be done on certain aspects of the game [for example the best way to make a menu and do collision ] and rather than argue in your posts back and forth simply ignore them - if you dont like something someone writes, or disaggree with what another user is saying then you have the privellage to iggy it rather than wasting your time arguing about it. This will save you a lot of time which is something you as a mere human cannot regain without a youth potion - but then again they dont make or sale them in the shops around town anywhere do they ? ( I haven't run across any this century have you ? ) now if you think about it objectively,it should have been posted as a "game idea" because its not really a wip as of yet. on several occassions it should have been moved or locked for your constant spamming , but was not so to make it short , you need to give the mods and other users a lot of brownie points for being (Very) patient and tolerent. [this is your que to apologize in your next post to all those you offended ]. On the bright side, it is good that your working on your idea for the game but mind you that you should already have a good idea of how you want your game to execute way before you start working on the actual game - I hope I said this in a way that is unoffensive, and easy to understand for you.
