Doesn't the regular way work?

Read the earlier posts.

It works now - has flatly refused to work for the last year or so.

Perhaps someone can tell me how to set DxTex.exe (the DX9 SDK texture application) to actually open .tga files. Windows has associated DxTex.exe with that file type (it shows the file with the DX9 icon, etc) - but I get an error message when I try to open it by double-clicking (but opens file OK from within DxTex.exe).

Edit Added screenshot or error message.

And here's another one!

Windows couldn't find the b****y file?

Couldn't have looked very far could it?!

I get that all the time when I open HTM,HTML files in Vista. For some reason it gets opened anyway.

Ah right. I had done, but that was quite a bit of time ago. Either way, very strange.

It certainly is.

Here's another strange thing.

TGA files open without problem on my laptop. I have therefore just checked the usual Tools/Folder Options/File Types route for TGA files. On both the PC and laptop they "open with" DxTex.exe - BUT, on the laptop the file types menu gives a choice between "Change" and "Restore" for TGA files, whereas the PC gives the choice between "Change" and "Advanced" for TGA files.

Anyone know how to restore the default settings for TGA files - or other action I can take?
