if you setup your router then you should know your WEP key also i don't recommend using WEP use WPA instead if possiable

@video gamer: Hi, video gamer! =) I too have a PSP. And a small bit of advice, although you probably already know about it. You're going to want to login to your router, and access the wireless / wifi section of it. Now to do that, is simple. If you don't know how to login to your router, open up the command prompt by going to the run menu in your start menu and typing in: cmd.exe , then once inside of the command prompt, type: ipconfig , then look for the text that says something like:

Where x = a number from 0 to 255, and y = a number from 0 to 255. then copy that number, or memorize it. Now, open up your web browser, and in the link bar, type: http://192.168.x.y/ . Now close out ur command prompt. Then from there, you should be at your router login screen. If you or anyone else that has access to your PC has not changed the default username & password, the default username should be: admin , and the default password should be: admin . Now, if it logged u in, simply look anywhere on ur router page for an option that has to do with wireless / wi-fi , and click on it. then look around for ur WEP / WPA key in here. Now comes the easy part. Close out your web browser, and turn on your PSP. Now, go to Network settings, and select the option for changing wireless channels. Ur going to want to set that option to automatic. Next, go to the option where u can 'scan for wireless connections in the area'. Now, have it search, and when it returns the results, select the router with the highest percentage on it. Note: It will ALWAYS be between 80 & 100% if ur sitting right next to your router, and ur using ur PSP to scan for wireless internet connections. Select that 1, and it will ask u for the WEP / WPA key IF ur router has 1. Now, simply enter the WEP / WPA key, and press enter. Then it will check ur connection. If the key is correct, and the connection is a good to very good connection (70 - 100%), then it will say 'connection successful', when it returns the connection results. Once ur done reading the results, press ok to select that connection, and exit from network settings mode and back to the main menu screen. now, try to go online with ur psp, and it will again scan & verify the connection, if successful, u should see either a blank page, or if u have ur page set for something other than default, then u will see that. Press triangle to pull down the browser link bar. click on the browser link bar, type in where u want to go, and there ya go. =)

I'm sorry if this is a bit long, but this is the way I learned how to use the network mode. =)

I hope this helps you at least a little bit =)

Good Luck! =)

The answer seems to have been given, I'd like to note that WEP is more than capable to defend normal home networks. WPA is stronger, surely, and WPA2 is even better, but most people won't really need the improved strength or options as TKIP.

You say that now until you neighbor reads your email, steals your credit card details and uploads nasty stuff through your internet connection.

There's no excuse not to use WPA2-PSK except for compatibility reasons. The stronger your encryption, the less likely it will be broken into.

Yeah, right. I've seen and done enough with encryptions and breaking them, and besides being an absolute ass I can see no reason why anyone would go through the trouble of breaking a WEP-encryption key just to read my mum's e-mails about how terrible a divorce is.

WEP is more than capable for most situations - it keeps annoying neighbours out, little 14 year olds out - if there's no WPA available on your system there's no need to rush to get WPA/WPA-2 capable stuff unless you live next to cyber-terrorists or are a business.

In that case, I'd recommend WPA .

If I went out and bought the right wifi card, I could break into any of my neighbor's wifi signals in probably just a few short hours. Are you telling me that a 14 year old is incapable of this? This is just the thing a 14 yo will do. Then, once they do, they start uploading warez like crazy on your line, killing your internet.

Then, if you got mr broke-man living next to you on the other side, you get your identity stolen after he reads your packets for a few weeks. (or he leaches off your line for a while, which is pretty groovy cuz an attack can go either way)

It's dangerous. I wouldn't recommend wep unless you live in the country with no neighbors within wifi distance

(Or again, if you have to for compatibilities sake. Frankly, I agree it's unlikely. But it's very easy and possible)

If a 14 year old was smart enough to break into a WEP network they would also be smart enough to know not to do it to thier neighbor at least. If they would do it anyway then they probably would be living in Juvie. Not next door.

Really, WEP is capable enough. Who in his right mind would hack a household PC? There's no use for it to upload warez as if found out, you'll get tracked to it anyway as sending packages pretty much reveals you.

I was 15 when I learnt how to crack WEP encryption. Close enough if you ask me. If you do want a decent encryption use WAP2, it's practically impossible to crack. Trust me I've tried
