OK, here's the scene: I've got firefox version 2.something, and I can't spell for beans. Thing is, I've heard that v2+ has a spellchecker integrated, but I'm not getting anything - what have I done wrong?

Hmm... It only works in text box controls...

It should automaticazlly check your spelling for you. Are you sure you have the rihgt version?

You have to install the dictionary yourself. Right-click a text box, select the 'languages' sub-menu and click "Add dictionaries...". You then need to enable spell-checking for the text-box you want (right click the text box and select the relevant setting).

You've not downloaded and installed a dictionary, go to the website and get one (firefox is not intuitively supposed to know what language you speak, to save on the waste of MBs you can just download the dictionary you need.

You've gotta be quicker than that.

Thanks Benjamin.

Somewhere along the line after a Firefox update all text boxes just started automatically spell-checking.

It tried to tell me that I couldn't spell simple words like 'grey' and 'honour'. Stupid thing!

Eventually, I got used to it continually whining about my perfect spelling and just ignored it. (Too lazy to look up how to fix it if I'm honest).

Now, thanks to you it speaks 'proper' English and since doing it, the only word that I've seen Firefox underline in red is the word... Firefox!

TDK, look for a British English library. Your download is probably made up for American English, we spell it "gray" and "honor".

You can always just add it to the dictionary...

Well I wouldn't have been the Fair Fast Ferret because that's you, so I think 'nearly fast' is appropriate for a being of my stature. Or at least that's my attempt to justify my ignorance.

There appears to be a ferreticious infestation going on... it started with me, then someone is claiming to be the "ferret king" and now you're the "nearly fast ferret". Run for the hills before you ferretify!

And that's my off-topic statement for the day.
