hey there,

I recently used Dariks Boot and Nuke to restore my computer everything went smoothly and i got all my drivers back. I also backed up some images ive made on a CD-RW. But in attempting to copy my files back to my computer i get an error message.

It says "Cannot Copy: Cyclic Redundancy Check"
what caused this and is there any fixes?

or am i F#@#ed cause i would be very sad if i lost my files

Well that's what you get for backing up problems.

Seriously though, i'm not sure why you get that error. (tried searching the interwebs?)Try testing the discs in different CD-Rom drives. Not every brand likes every drive, noticed that from experience.

I never trust backing up to any media other than another hard drive. My old win2k machine has become a file server/backup machine. I plopped a 500GB drive in there to hold periodic backups and stuff I dont need residing on my main machine. Its not infallible but I think its a better strategy than using removable media like cdrw's etc

not that that helps you at the moment.

if your machine cant read the disc see if one of your friends' machines can, and if you have access to a thumb drive or something you could possibly get your files back. might be a pain, but if losing the files is a worse pain then it might be worth it

even better, back up your files to a second HD and cd/dvd's. you could also get some web space and back up there aswell. most servers are backed up regulaly
