Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone knows what kind of software is used when high resolution images are made.

I can give you guys the examples of the Mortal Kombat images you see of the characters when they are posing. But I don't have a clue which software is used to create those type of images. Can anyone help?

Your help will be much appreciated!

The same software that does low resolution images. Whatever resolution your computer can handle determines how high you can go.

All professional 3D programs can render to pretty much any resolution you want. Photoshop and other 2D programs can create images of whatever resolution you want (as long as you have enough HDD space, PS eats up a lot while working).

He's asking what type of 3d modeling program was used.

Likely Maya or 3ds max. They also allow you to make low poly models used in games. However, those are thousand dollar programs. I've heard Blender is a good high quality open source alternative if you want to get into it.

Once you know blender, you can use any of those 3d modelers.

Hurray for teh logd!

Thanks for the responses, sorry about the confusion, Jerico2day is right I was talking about the actual program but I phrased it incorrectly, I should have said "high quality images" not high res, sorry!

Thanks Jerico2day I'll definitely have a look at blender. I'm new to the whole creating games scene so I'm still trying to find my feet at the moment.
