I would say...why not drawings that represent something?
I mean like a brick wall....only in drawing style.
Or a scifi wall with little icons on it...again as a drawing style

Also there was another thread about the same sort of style with segments..
His effect was pretty good looking...you should check it out....maybe you can come up with ideas.

But i like the idea! And would like to see more screenies.

The brick one is my favorite one. It looks really good. Why does everybody seem to use these now.

because cartoon games is really where the big bux are if you have noticed alot of games are now oriented to cartoon graphics for younger kids do to the fact that they see there older brother and sister playing the more mature game they want to play them to but there parents do not approve of such a rating for a small child so they restort of childish game with cartoon texture and charecters.

Also team fortess 2 is a cartoon game and it kicks @$$ with its texture and gore.

If I was making a game set in a big carboard box, this'd be apporpriate.

It could say "This box will self-destruct if you press the red button" with a drawn-on red box under the words.

Actually, I do like the style and especially the bricks. Though, I think you need to work on making them seamless.

Keep working on them.

Trust me, the amount of thick parents out here these days, stood in game shops with their 9-year olds, the 9 year old says "mummy, can i hve this?", picks up grand theft auto, parent doesnt bother looking at the age reading and says yes. GRRRR
