Well! My big move has been effected and I am now a resident of Brisbane in sunny Queensland. I drove 2134kms from Tasmania to get here woohoo. It was good fun ha. The bit that matters is that I am starting uni again up here after stopping my previous studies. The course I am doing is computer game design and boy oh I am looking forward to it!!

Anyway, I am sure some of you can sympathize with my position... I moved from a city with 100k to a city with over one million, so its a little larger than I'm used to! Oh I'm in Toowong

Hope there wasn't too much water damage when you drove through Bass Strait.

It's not sunny here in Queensland at the moment ... but I won't complain as we desperately needed the rain... Is Brisbane still on level 6 water restrictions?

Shiz, in NSW we're on... level 3?

I went to the Sunshine Coast for a holiday about 2-3 weeks ago (19th-28th of Jan.), and we didn't have a single day of bad weather!

I may have done the same course as you, what uni are you going to?

I'm up in Townsville... My partner and I want to move to Brisbane (her sister is there) but at the moment her job requires her to be here, so here we must stay... It's always too hot!!!

Water restrictions I think... because there is a drought in Australia at the moment, so water can't be wasted... am I right?

The addage ' if its yellow let it mellow. If its brown flush it down' applies quite strictly. It really is quite rank haha

Just be aware that practically every road in the Brisbane CBD is one-way, quite annoying. Oh, and their public transport zones are somewhat elaborate.

And, Veron, where in the Blue Mts. are you?

Oh, and on the Central Coast, we're on Level 4 water restrictions

Veron, nice.

My GF lives just east of the Blue Mts. in Bowen Mt. I also go to Uni in Bathurst (far on the other side ).

Greenlig,
Ahh, but you missed the best part, my home town of Toukley!
The mariners have quickly become the Central Coasts only sports topic Shame I don't follow football!
I love the Central Coast, it's just such a nice place all round (except for all the high-rises in Terrigal and Entrance now ).

Actually we did go to toukley, and walked along a beach there. My cousin and I drove all around looking at beaches. Um went to Budgewoi too... Basically went all over the place haha. Ah you should get into the mariners man, great bunch of guys. I drove up for the 2006/07 new years game and got on the news for being such a dedicated fan haha good times.

Haha, nice.

Yeah, my mate is a huge Jets fan (he lives at Newy), so he's always watching their games and going on about it. At Uni, we have a common room for about 400-500 people which has the only Fox connection on campus, so he's always down there with a bunch of people having some drinks and watching the game
I've been caught in the crowds on trains before - looks like it's a great atmosphere, but Football just isn't my thing

The beach you would have gone to would have been Soldiers beach. Car-park up high on the edge of a cliff? Heaps of steps to walk down? The beach at Budgewoi is probably Lakes Beach (one of the worst around here, unfortunately).

Ahh, yeah, forgot about Birdie beach.
'tis nice

They're deserted in a sense... Come holiday time, they're packed full of tourists, yet still more empty than a Sydney beach on a work day in the middle of winter

Bowen Mt? Never heard of the place!

I went to uni at the UTS in Sydney, so it was a 2 hour train trip, or a 2 hour drive each way. Twas a good uni though.

Ouch, that's gotta suck. To get to my GF's place is a 2.5hr drive (still being on my Greens, I can only do 100 on the F3). And it's about 4hrs to Uni. Naturally, I choose to stay on campus when I'm not on holidays

Bowen Mt is 5mins south of Kurajong, or 15mins west of North Richmond.
Google Mapified.

Ugh, 2.5 hours? To get to mines is only 30 mins drive, I can usually ride there in about 45 since it's just going down the mountain.

I stayed on campus a fair bit, and it was bloody fun, we did some of the best stuff, but it was pretty expensive, so I didn't do it all the time.

Oh ok, that's about... 1-1.5 hours from where I am.

Yeah, it's a long way to go, but even between her working all the time, and me doing Uni, we still get to see eachother most weeks

On campus is the best. It's not too much at Bathurst, only a little more expensive than living in the town (but miles cheaper than living anywhere near Sydney!). And it also comes with a 10Mb connection, free water, heating, electricity, and gas. The social life is worth the extra money

Haha, yeah, most people do.
Damned mother and her 'unique' naming

It's fine, I really don't mind. If it means people like me more and follow the rules on the forum closer because they think they can score with me, then all the better for them.

lol I have a friend Gabriel... Nuff said haha. Hey we aren't all so far apart... Maybe a get together at some stage ... Sink a few brews (boags draught or bluetongue please!) swap manly stories, and in the morning jess is making waffles! Ha na seriously there always were soundings for a db get together, and there are a few of us...also I know a good lot of blenderheads, really pro ones too who wouldn't mind the idea.

Great Odin's raven! We could have a totally good indie digital content get to-freaking-gether!

There was talk a couple years back about an Oz convention. But at the time, most of the interested parties were under-age, so it didn't go ahead.

I know a few others around Sydney, etc, who'd be interested

I don't think I'll be making waffles... I'll most likely be lying in bed complaining about the room and its insistence on continually spinning

Ha nice one jess. I imagine an Aussie convention would consist of BBQ upon arrival, beer during BBQ, schedule given the toss due to excessive alcohol consumption at bbq. At least that would be it in a perfect world...jokes haha
