Stretching it a bit aren't ya!

I just bought one for my son that has 64mb dedicated GFX (x700), not exactly cutting edge but it runs WoW like it was built for it, that cost £225. If you were talking about something low spec then you might find a generous bloke with an old laptop going spare, but 128mb gfx card on a laptop usually means it's worth money.

less is more, but if less is more how you keeping score?

I've got a 25mHz black and white laptop that runs Windows 95 with 640k of base memory, 4mb extended. You truly are a nutcase if you think you're going to get more than that for free.

Free stuff is usually something you haggle out of friends and drinking buddies from work. Why would a stranger on an internet forum go through the trouble of sending you their laptop?

Did you just sign up a few days ago just to ask for a free laptop? Man, someone needs a job.

And if he isn't old enough to get one, then he shouldn't give his address out to some one who has "One" to give away.

I have a free laptop. You'll have to pay the mail costs, by the way. And the sentimental value, which is about $800. That okay?

Big woop, when I first started at uni I needed a laptop real bad, and guess what? I went out and bought one. I suggest you try doing the same. Failing that ask your parents.

I don't know anyone in real life that would give me their laptop for free, why would someone on here?

A friend dented his laptop with pie...so anything is possible.

Better than nothing, I'm using that kind of laptop for uni work and internet. If you haven't got the funds for a great laptop you're not going to get one. If you get that one, make sure it has Windows 98 or Windows 2000 installed, Windows XP will eat up too much performance (as I found out the hard way).

[edit]
...wait why do you need to worry about the graphics card and gaming when you can't afford a proper laptop? I mean if the laptop is for school then do games matter when you have the computer you've highlighted in this thread:

Last time I checked, school work on computers was spreadsheets, presentations and the occasional business letter.

Apparently this computer needs to be able to play his games while he's at school. LMAO.

But its not locked yet... Cool, I've made a post after a mod in a locked topic!

Yeah, I need a laptop for school too. And for business things. It needs to run Crysis on high at 60FPS, obviously.

Umm... I'll take a free laptop too. Nutcase, you're using a computer right now aren't you? What's the deal with that then?

Cheers,

-naota

With any luck you'll be able to turn a fully functioning program to a crashing program with just a little bit of coding.

Lol, for serious... Like anyone is going to give you a free laptop at these forums.

Save your pennies and get the $500 dell laptop. Maybe ask you parents for a loan, or an early birthday and Christmas present combination? I dunno. Mow lawns in your neighborhood...

You got a noobslap, Aikicat? Now, that would be ironical, wouldn't it? I totally did the same thing as you did and I got nothing! How amazing.

Yes, I was being sarcastic.

Here's the question, why games on a school laptop? I mean you have a perfectly decent gaming desktop...and of course I also need to ask, why do you need a laptop for school? The vast majority of work is hand written isn't it - it's really only at college or uni when people need laptops to do work because teachers/tutors like work typed up. Not that I have a problem with you buying one...but if you say it's for school you don't need a good one (besides a good one can become a target for thieves,I would never have dreamed of turning up to school with something so valuable, I used to feel daring bringing a gameboy colour.)
