Hello fellow forumers, here is the wip space fo my first commercial game, Execution™.

This is the first level.

Story: You are Nick Stoker, secret agent. You have been sent to investigate the illegal works of GF (Global Friendly). They have been experimenting with the dead, creating new physics, and try to cover up by using the name Global Friendly. But, they discovered you, and threw you in a deserted, derylict building, until they think you ready for experimenting with. Your task: Escape, and stop their plans.

Seems like a lot of effort for a pretty unoriginal story (as it seems so far), and a game that uses minimal custom media. Not seeing anything "derylict" about the screens either.

The lightings pretty good, but lower the ambience.

Story seems way too loose. Secret agent in big corporation, gets captured and- instead of getting killed or something, gets thrown in a random derelict building. I don't see how that's worth a trademark. The level design looks competent, but could use more polish and refinement.

Look forward to seeing a demo.

Feigning interest since 2005!

Cheese- Not to rain on your parade but there are some issues here that need to be resolved.

1. Trademark- I know that you are eager to get something going and are apprehensive about someone stealing your idea(s). You should also know that validating a trademark is rather expensive and has been proven to you already. you need to get this issue resolved as it can and most likely will cause you alot of heartache in the long run.

2. Story concept- Theres nothing of interest in the story, there is not enough background to create the present or future of the story. Why would they just chuck someone in a derelict building? The story needs alot of work and probably should have been kept to yourself until you had something worth sharing.

3. Level layout- Nothing has been provided to show the worth of this level. There are two images that show alot of inconsistencies. It appears that you wondered around the level until you found the two best views and snapped a picture of them which is fine; You are trying to sell a commercial product and you shouldn't have to rummage to find the best two screenshots to showcase the level, the whole level should be one large showcase.

I know you are eager but you have to think things out just a little bit for people to take you seriously. It seems that there has been little thought in to this game, you can tell that through the story and the screenshots. Remember that peoples first impression are the reasons programs are made or broken and in my eyes this is broken..

Regards,
Dave

I'm going to trade mark the word "game™", and you wont be able to publish yours without my permission.

They're the stock FPSC ones. Look under Sci-Fi/Platforms. It's called Prison Gantry Cross, I presume.

Would a simple copyright not suffice? The authors of creative works (art, music, software etc.) automatically have the rights to copyright to protect their work. There was something about it in Game Design Theory a while ago.

Looks ok for an FPSC project, the lighting on that last image was good.

No problem, the lighting pattern under the walkway was a pretty cool effect

[offtopic] I couldn't help noticing your signature, if you email a mod (any mod) asking them to change your name for you, (as well as providing them with a link to a thread where you have posted) then you can get it changed

On the topic of the trade mark registration Aaagreen is ok to use the TM symbol on his game but as it is unregistered he can't use the "R" symbol and he must display a message saying "name of game"is and unregistered trademark of "your name", thats according to the UK Intellectual Property office anyway

on the topic of your game looking good

Best,
Gaz

why would a mod sticky a game? not even the best games like Eldora get stickied.

OMG, no way, great games without fake TM's don't even get considered for stickying and you want this to be stickied. I know you're new, but this is too funny.

i get mixed up between stickys and those threads with red icons... what are they called?

and slayer, i didnt use a fake trademark, "R" stands for REGISTERED trademark, "TM" stands for basic trademark.

The ones with red icons are "hot topics" and a moderator doesn't make that...it happens when you have 50+ replies.

Oh sorry, well it's still annoying and IMO, a little silly. No one would steal your game and the word execution can;t be trade marked I don't think. there are plenty of great games out there to steal, why your's? No offense intended.

Heres my execution games storyline

Story: You are Sick Ntoker, secret OPS agent. You have been sent to investigate the illegal works of FG ( Friendly Global). They have been experimenting with the dead, creating new physics, and try to cover up by using the name Friendly Global. But, they discovered you, and threw you in a deserted, derylict building, until they think your ready for experimenting with. Your task: stop their plans and Escape.

Changes are subtle but my game will be better and it infact has a better storyline.

Lol JK man, good luck with Execution, it looks pretty solid.
