Hey guys, I'm in the planning process for a game that, ultimately, I Will probably never make, but would still like the experience of planning it out, ect.

MY current issue is server prices. The game I am planning is ideally supposed to be able to hold a MAX of 1000-1500 players per world. The game would be a very simple 2D game where the client app displays info gathered from queries sent to a server app, which processes data through a MySQL database. SO basically, the server app would play the role of a data verification agent, verifying that data received is valid, thus making sure that the player hasn't "accidentally" teleported across the worlds map, and if the data is valid, then returns the data gathered from the query. The server app will be written in C/C++, and the client app will of course be written in DBPro.

My question being, what type of a server would be needed to power this type of a game? And how much money would it cost a month? Also, does anyone know of any tutorials that talk about good server structure for MMOG's? I haven't been able to find anything that really explains the different theories used very well...

Anyways, thanks for the help guys!

P.S. Befor I get flamed for being an ubber n00b for even considering the possibility of being able to make an MMORPG, I will agree with that notion. Which is why I want to LEARN about it. So pretty please, only meaningful responses please?
