I have had a beagle for sometime now, 5 years in May... Well my mom has been wanting another dog for a while now.. So earlier we got one. Now my beagle just wont shut up. He keeps barking and barking. The new dog just wants to play and have fun...

Do you think they will be ok after a few days?

I think your older Dog is just claiming its turf so to speak, making sure he stays the boss. They should get on fine however.
Just give it a couple of weeks, it will most probably settle down.

I know it did for my parents' cairn terriers.

Cairn Terriers are such sweet little dogs

@ Corky

Well, Beagles are nervous dogs and pretty territorial. There are certain ways to introduce dogs to one another to get them used to each other. It's probably too late for that now though They won't kill each other or anything and I'm quite sure it will tone down in a few days. My old dog didn't ever really like our new dog but they got accustomed to each other. They'll have their scuffles and stuff, but it's nothing to worry about. I just dunno how long it will take beagles as they are pretty territorial. Good luck.

Ever heard of the Dog Whisperer? It's a show on the Discovery Channel, I think he has a book out too. Anyway, he might have a few good ways to calm things down if you look up some of his stuff.

Beagles aren't nervous dogs... They often bark at new and unfamiliar things and once he gets used to the new dog will stop... My Beagle was very excited when we brought the cat home and barked like crazy now they snuggle up on the dog's bed and are the best of friends (except at meal times when they get a bit protective of their food)...

If you want to see my Beagle I started doing a photobucket thing of her when she first came home... She's much bigger now (nearly 2) but I haven't updated it in ages...

Beagles are cute dogs. Terriers on the other hand are a pain in the ass. What breed is your new dog Corky?

That beagle is so cute

My golden might not be the tiny, adorable puppy he was when we brought him home, but he gets the point across.

Opposing Force, you know who that dog is, aye?

Sam, the Ugly Dog. Died a few years ago, won a contest for ugliest dog. The owner used to post about it in this blog here: http://samugliestdog.typepad.com/
