ok question, how do I get .X files, and can maya PLE produce them, becouse I have maya PLE and was wondering if I can use my model in game, even if it has the watermark on it.

You're not allowed to use Maya PLE to make models for your games, You need to buy the full version for that.....

WoW that sucks, how much is the full, I know its expensive.

Anyw way I can get a discount as an Unofficail student, Im not in college yet, but Im going to a summer program this summer that uses the full version of MAYA and they are supposed to give me a CD with MAYA PLE. I also heard the guy say somthing about a discount, anyone got info on that?

They have really good deals on a lot of software, including 3ds Max. ($3,500 / $379.95) There are other stores / sites that offer similar deals for students. I've used this one for a couple of years, and never had a problem with them. They are based in Texas, USA. Don't know if they do International.

By the way, Maya PLE (Personal Learning Edition) is free. You can download it from Autodesk. You can also usually find it on the CD in the back of any Maya book. And that's a real deal, especially if you got the book used or at "Half Price Books".

Well I have looked at a student edition (Same features as 2008), but it has a student liscense Which I am almost sure will not give me selling rights.

Well, if they don't know you've got a student license or don't say what program you used to make your models, I guess what Autodesk doesn't know can't hurt them.

It isn't as the average person could afford the full price anyway, that stuff is prohibitively expensive, unless you have say a student license or buy an older version of Ebay.

So if you weren't going to buy it anyway, they won't have lost a customer. I doubt they could sue you for loss of earnings, even if they were bothered.

so is there any software that can convert maya files (with animations) to .x files? milkshape does not read the animation data of maya files
