Well, I dunno when it came out, but it's out. Uwe Boll is directing it.

This looks worse than the DOOM movie to me.

reasons why I think it looks really bad:

Haha, love it. Can't beat an argument like that. (Why does the name "Jack" pop up so much? That name is starting to get on my nerves. No offence to any Jacks here if any. )

Looks like a straight to video movie. With all the rubbish punching sound effects and TV cast (General Hammond from star gate). Maybe one to rent for the lulz.

So if this guy can't even capture the interest of video game nerds from any part of the world, why does he keep trying? That's what I don't get.

Nope, can't be beat. But seriously. Shouldn't an action hero not look like some kinda redneck?

The only real similarity with the game is the machine-gun sound.

Just to let you guys know Uwe Boll did not direct DOOM. For examples of his work : Bloodrayne, In the Name of the King : A Dungeon Siege Tale, House of the Dead, Alone in the Dark, and Postal. And now this.

Will you bite the hand that feeds?

It does look bad, to be honest.
It also almost looks...fake. Like, I don't think it is, but just the way everything is played out it looks like a very well done indie movie.

Jack does look a little off, almost as if he should be bigger.
And, the mutant they showed was almost chubby, haha, and didn't look threatening at all.

I also noticed at the end, the logo had a space between far, and cry. Even though it's the same font. Didn't the game's logo have no space?

It does somehow look like a fake, it has that unprofessional, sloppy feel to it. And does General Hammond's actor have some obsession with playing the General with some guy called Jack?

That looks like it came straight from the 80's, what with the random explosions, glass breaking, and one-guy-beats-up-everybody scenes. I guess they couldn't cast Schwarzenegger?

It's a low budget action film, what more can you ask?

I wonder if we'll ever see that Halo movie...

FarCry the game = take place on an tropical island, with mutated monkeys and a red shirt.

FarCry the movie = maybe takes place on an island, but where are the palms, the mutated monkeys and the red shirt?

This just sound like someone wanted to use an good name to earn money, and just created an story without any regard of making it fit with the game.

I actually think this looks pretty good, for someone who doesn't get the full studio backing (money wise) that someone like Ridly Scott or Steven Spielberg do I think it looks fantastic.

I mean the problem with video game movies is that the gamers have a much more open experience with a game and anything that derives from the original will seem odd, the exact same things happen with books that get turned into a movie....you have certain expectations of who the character should be or what he sounds like.

Watch teh trailer again and don't watch it as a film of a game just look at it like a film, it defiantly has potential.

Oh and some of you need to jump out of the 'We Hate Uwe Boll' bandwagon and give the film your own opinion, don't just go with the crowd, have your own opinions for once.

Rant over...I'll watch it.

I know middle-aged people who've gone to see Uwe Boll's films, NOT realizing they're based on video games, and actually enjoying them.

One guy at work even recommended Boll's Dungeon Siege movie to everyone at the lunch room.

And yeah, this trailer looks like an indie film from the late 90's.

I have no idea who Uwe Boller is and have played farcry for about 5 minutes, but still I am insulted by that trailer.
It has nothing decent at all; crap acting, crap jokes (really bad acting there), and even crap explosions!

I give it a whopping -1/10

I think all his films look 10+ years out of date. Why does he even bother?

Uwe Boll's new film "Pac Man", out now!

LOL think about it for a bit... To what genre do most game stories lend themselves? Popcorn action flicks - and not particularly well produced ones. I think Bolle does what he can with the licences. I mean if a movie was made ala bourne identity and called far cry, all would sing its praises. Problem is, it would not be farcry. Ridiculous situations and equally ridiculous odds are what most fps games are about, with farcry being one of its finest exponents.

The movie will suck due to "lack of story substance and below par performances." doesn't the game already have that lack? Most games, in all honesty, suck in terms of story, but that doesn't stop them being great games. As gamers, we quickly dismiss fps games that are too drawn out and plunge too deeply under the surface away from any experience we might instigate ourselves. Where are the fps games that ask questions regarding the condition of man at a level similar to Steinbeck? Very few indeed go that far. Half-life 2 and bioshock for my money make great strides in that area.

What do I mean? Play and love a popcorn shooter by all means, but don't expect the film version to be any different.

Regards,
greenlig

Firstly that was a general statement, alot of people bash Boll because everyone else does...like its the cool thing to do.

Also I don't give a dam if House Of The Dead is good or not, I can judge this film on its own merit, if he has done crap before that bad for him....it doesn't mean everything that follows will be crap.
Surly you have heard of progression Jeku?

Also I am not going to rate the film based on the trailer, I'll watch the film, the way you are meant to lol.

Hmm, I've never noticed it's the "cool" thing to do. How about the fact Uwe has even said in an interview that he makes these movies not for any other reason than for tax loopholes in his native country? Game licenses are cheap, and he's made a niche. He's never tried to make a good movie, and is not embarrassed by it at all

Talk about making a mountain out of a molehill. The consumer has every right to avoid a movie if they don't like a particular actor or director. Don't give me this nonsense that everyone who trashes this movie is doing it to follow the crowd. Puleeze. Let's look at his imdb profile:

Bloodrayne II, Postal, Alone in the Dark, House of the Dead, all triple AAA titles as you can clearly see.

And even above all that, if I've never heard of this director, I still think the movie looks like crap by the trailer. Honestly can you tell me you have never avoided a movie based on its trailer? It's supposed to be a desert island but it was filmed in Vancouver. Go figure

Looked alright to me, I've never played FarCry though so it is irrelevant to me how accurate the film is to the game.

Oh yeah, great. What an excuse. I'm using a crap license so it's a crap movie. Why not use a better license? Because the few times he did use a good license, the movie was still crap. Fact. The guy has never, never made a movie worthwhile scoring more than 50. Fact. This seems to have nothing to do with Far Cry. Opinion. Game movies usually suck. Fact. Uwe makes video game movies appear like Schindlers List. In my opinion.

This doesn't look interesting neither. Same old Uwe. We love Uwe!
