On my desktop today when I tried to boot up my computer i got a "Disk boot failure" message since i mis-placed my XP CD i just said "damn" and cut power to the computer and re-booted, the computer booted up normally...How can i stop this from happening again? Anyway to ensure that my boot disk is in fact not corrupt or going corrupt?

About 1-2 years old, its taken a little abuse but not much, i guess before i shut her down tonight i'll have to do that, probably run FIXMBR and FIXBOOT just incase, think that will help too? In recovery console...

Haha you're lucky if you only get that once in a while. I need to reboot my coputer 3 to 5 times each morning before it passes the bios stage (no error, just nothing), and even then it sometimes chokes on the windows loading screen.

But yes, i will suggest taking backup too. I burned 9 DVD's today with backups. Didn't quite trust the new attitude of my computer for some reason.
