Hi,

Here is my game script for my upcoming game, but it seems to vague and not enough detail. Could somebody please help me with giving me ideas for it or a way to make it better. is it possible you could save it in a format people can actually open?
i don't know anybody who has MS works. can't you at least do it in word/notepad? at least then, everybody could open it.

You don't know anyone who has MS Works? Really? I use Works Database for just about everything lol, it's easier to use for non-calculative tasks than excel, by far .

Gargoyle, a few points:
First and foremost, a Game Design Theory Thread is not the same thing as a "game's URL." It's just that: a thread about the game. If you had put the link in proper URL tags and someone visited the link expecting a proper game site, they'd be in for quite a surprise.

Secondly, why post this here? Why not include this in the thread you already have, in game design theory, where it actually belongs?

Last but not least, there's a simple reason most people won't read this document: what the heck is it? "Game script" is extremely vague... is it a design document? A voice acting script? a Lua file? A loosely-compiled list of ideas? It always helps to understand the most common terminology before posting stuff, not only to your own benefit, but to the benefit of the community as a whole .

I use .wps every day of my life for writing school work.
@Matt Rock- I pasted it here because more people seem to visit off topic board than the game design theory board, but i'll post this in my thread. Yeah, its a game design thread, but i'll have an official site for it soon. A Game Script is like a game design document that details the whole game's story otherwise know as cutscenes to tell the story. My modeller wanted a full game script before he joined on and I was writing it but this is only the begging of the script and he said it was to vague and needs more info, so I was asking for input. Also attached game srcipt in wordpad format. All the best, Jared

I have taken a much better examination of my pre game script and it sucked. Here is a much better and detailed version in the code snippet box. Please give feedback if it sounds like a good starting point for a hack n slash game. All the best,

Yeah the second version is much better, but the script should not be written from the view of a character in the game, it should just provide settings, details and actions. The thoughts of the swordsmen should be in a separate section (maybe Introduction), but probably not Game Events. Otherwise good though.

@IonStrem- Okay, so your saying I should take my game script and make it into the introduction. Than I should write the settings for each level like: desert area few tree's, some rocks, dead animal skelton, right? Then write details: fight against viking enemies in this section, heath vial behind barrel by house, right? Then for the actions write like: fight through enemies but make way to catapult to shoot at enemies and they start retreating. Thanks for your comments. All the best,
