It's a funky name for a sprite.

I think.

Bob, Sprite ... Definitly not.

When you walk along, imagen you are holding a camera, it would go up and down wouldn't it (if you walk normally anyway ). Well thats a bob . Its used alot in FPS games, and move the camera up and down slightly as you walk, to add the effect of walking. A bit like a sin curve movement.

I've seen a number of tutorials on it

If you were smart (like me) you would look it up in a dictionary:

bob3

bob3 [bob] (plural bob) noun
U.K. shilling: a shilling in the former British currency system (informal)

[Late 18th century. Origin unknown.]

But when I do 'show sprite variable' it says the bob doesn't exist.
How to I fix that?

Please note that oliver is trying to mislead you. If it says bob does not exist, it means that the sprite does not exist.

He, where can I find tutorials on a FPS bob? Do I have to use an other collision system then?

Lets make free games!
Download them at www.fishsoft.tk

No, you don't need another collision system. All you do is move the camera up and down slightly as you walk. Most FPS games have it, like counterstrike... And looks nice if you have it in time with a footstep sound.

I remember reading a tutorial along time ago, I did a quick search on google but couldn't find anything. Anyway this was Game_Creator's idea for a tide, but you could easyily adapt it for a BOB:

position camera 0,camera position y+(sin(timer())*[crest - trough])+[average wave height],0

crest being the highest point of the tide and trough being the lowest point...so the code would look something like...

Atleast someones is interested in my bob theory , none of this sprite crap
