Hey,
Sorry, I had to make a new thread for this, because the old one (http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=104368&b=8) was so old that I couldn’t post.
Here’s from the last thread:
Quote: "
About
I developed Virtual Office mainly for use by indie teams of game developers. Because we don't actually work in an office together day by day, it's difficult for us to get things done as fast and efficiently as we could. Virtual Office helps to solve (or will) part of that problem. It can be described as a 3D representation of a forum, IM, email, chatroom, and organizer all in one. It is like a virtual office (hence the name ), that I hope to be able to make support about 6-8 people through the internet, where they can access their "office", which other members could leave notes, videos, and drawings in. If multiple members are logged on at once, it could be used as a "meeting room" where visual representations such as notes, videos, and drawings could be used as well as speaking. So enough explanation, here's what I've done and what I have yet to do:"
And to add: Eventually there may be more advanced versions of this including a customizable office, more online support, and more features.

So, the estimated progress:
Done (for the most part):
writing
moving objects
chat
movement
sit/stand
title/rename objects

Partially Done/In Progress:
collision 50% (works with walls but not with objects and you can go through windows)
drawing 60% (need more colors)
inventory 90% (works, but needs more objects and testing)
video 70% (choose which video, possible rewind/fast forward?, right now you can play, pause, turn off, turn on, and reset)

To do:
containers (filing cabinets)
notice board
save/load
online
"

But this isn’t just an update, but I’ve decided to just go ahead and released the largely unfinished source code (and media), because I keep on picking up the project every couple months and then dropping it a couple weeks later, so I’ll go ahead and give out what I have. I’ve already released code to those who have specifically requested by email, but now I’ll just do it publically.
Here’s some old screenshots (some outdated):
A general view of the room.

The writing system with paper.

Writing on the whiteboard.

Simple chat.

Video system, and sitting in a chair.

Start of the inventory after picking up two pieces of paper.

Controls:
WASD movement
Right click to write on paper and draw on board
Space on TV to play, o to turn off, p to pause/play, and r to reset
Space to sit in chair
Ctrl+c for chat

My requests for editing (which I want you to do, obviously, since I’m releasing the source code) are as follows:
-Keep your additions separate (if you can) from the original version through subroutines and functions, so they are easily added for others.
-If you add anything fairly major, please release to the public
-I seriously doubt anyone will try, but do not try to sell the product, even if it’s an edited version, it’s made to be open source and free for everyone to use
-DLL's can be used, but please make them free

The code isn't commented, because I'm lazy, but it is neatly organized into subroutines, so hopefully that will be enough.

The first order of business I would suggest is getting online working using either Tempest or Multisync, which I have no clue how to do, so someone please help .

You can add whatever, and I’ll probably be updating some too as I add more, but I highly encourage people to edit it and change it, I think that the program could be very useful if finished and taken to the next level (maybe things like making your own custom office, etc.).

Here's the link for the download (V0.5 03-07-2008)
http://www.mediafire.com/?3bnx2blplm2

Enjoy and please add, edit, and share!

Is it alright if I take this and convert some of the code over to a VB application, using an engine I am developing?

In the end, I fixed multiplayer - heck, I even had to pursue Gil.

I must admit the program is pretty sleek.

Yes, Xenocythe has the correct idea.
