Stuff is becoming more weak and useless as the years go on. I mean seriously, I just tried to install a new kitchen faucet. The old one had nice strong fittings still, and it was like 8 years old. Now when I took it out you could have set a grenade off next to the thing and it would not have had a scratch on it. Now on to the new one. I installed it nice and easy, but it leaked, because the "copper" tubing that screwed on to the cold/hot lines was not soldered right or something. So I tried to just take it off but it would not unscrew, and I noticed the "copper" tubing they used twisted and was going to break, so I could not just take it off anymore. So now we have no water in the house at all, because there is no shutoff valve just for the sink (its an old house). And now to top it all off I was going to my neighbors house to get some water for the night and slipped on some ice and gashed my hand open on that same ice...really bad day I think.

It used to be called "planned obsolescence," but now I think it's just called "cheap Chinese crap."

Lol at venge. I agree tho', more and more low quality stuff and I must say Chinese stuff doesn't seem to ever fail me.

One positive side to your story: contrary to what they say, it sounds as if the quality of the ice is still perfect .

Haha indeed, the ice is nice and sharp. We called an emergency plumber to come out tomorrow and fix the stupid thing. They also thought it would be a good idea to put plastic pieces where they should have been metal.

You know they make the cheap stuff so you homeowners don't complain about the prices of hiring a handyman, yet you go and break it! Show some gratitude! LOL, now you have to hire a plumber owned!

Ok, seriously I'm just kidding. Well, ok, so it's pretty much true, but I bet the plumber is gonna install the cheap crap too even though he has access to nice expensive stuff Then he's gonna tell you it IS the expensive stuff so he makes more money. That's how they are.

This post was meant to make you laugh. Sorry about your hand and your faucet

Why would you go to the trouble of installing a faucet and then not install a shutoff valve under the sink??

Well its complicated haha, we have some one pipes that require a "special" fitting for a shutoff valve.
