Hello fellow forumers, Astek here.

I've created this thread to showcase some work I
have been doing in the past few days.

This project is codenamed: Dusk and if you've
ever visited the Demon Sun thread, you can get where
I'm coming from with this. The story for Dusk is
linked with the events of Demon Sun but in this game,
it is the future, and it is coming to a close on a war.

Story:

You play as Robert Petterson, a Lieutenant in a special Ops
group. You were sent to investigate a Russian facility
in the outskirts of the main providence. It was rumored that
the place posses a big threat to the public, but it's not
clear how. So that's why two scout teams are sent.

You thought this mission was just like any other boring one...
but you had a surprise waiting for you. Terroristic events,
( that I'm not about to reveal just yet ) ends you all alone
in the facility.

You will discover the facility and will use your mind to
discover the secrets of the hell hole you have fell upon.

Can you survive?

The ladder looks a little out of proportion...

There are over 100 billion galaxies in our observable universe, each containing up to a trillion stars.

Feeling small yet?

The level has 2 and 3 story parts, so not really.
Demo will be up in a few. I know that sounds odd,
but I've developed it well enough to be a level.

This game involves a little thinking. You can't just zip
through the level! Plus, your unarmed... so taking your time might be a good idea.

EDIT: Just realized that it built buggy. FPSC Screwed itself.
Adjusting the setup file to default settings might help.

I updated level one today and re-opened parts and
I built a new Beta. I would like to gt some Beta Testers I
can depend on before I release a small map pack to show the games
look and feel. I'll upload the Beta either tonight or tomorrow morning! Be sure to test the one above out though!

The player can read a little Russian, so whatever he can
interpret from notes or signs, he'll tell you.

And two more slots are open!
(Also, might I mention that only 2 spots qualify to test full game)

More screenshots for you guys!

Alright, Bobert... you and Darimc will be testers.
I already have,

-DarkFact
-Eheytz
-Inspire

So you guys being testers makes 5.
Sounds about right. Just give me your email by
emailing me, (don't be shy.)

The purpose of Beta Testers is to make sure I have
it buggy free before I release a real Demo.

I've been busy trying to brainstorm, but more to come
soon enough!

Dusk is not just going to be based on the same game
play foundation through the whole game. For the beginning, you
find that the place is locked up pretty tight and you're going to have to
unlock a few doors and such to find important story elements and items you
will ABSOLUTELY NEED to get, or you'll never make it past the next few levels.

Ammo for the most part will be vary scarce because it's not very realistic that ammo
would be conveniently laying in the middle of a room and such. You will need to kill
your stalkers with the surrounding entities in the room sometimes.

Later on, the game will develop into a heavier shooter and ammo will become more available as
armed foot solders will be tracking you down to silence all that you've learned.

And eventually, you will get a blast from the past ability to "sight jack."

I'm going to try to scramble it up a bit with this one and as far as the levels go,
it will look abandoned at first, but don't be fooled. You will discover it is more alive than you are.

More to come!

Remember not to reveal any plot elements to the beta testers or others that email you, it might compromise other things in the series.

I'm looking as of now to change the story. I've been messing around
with model pack 16 and I've got some ideas. I've also upped the
lightmapping and such.

I just played the demo. Looks impressive. Maybe it's just my set up, but I found it a little too dark. There were areas where I couldn't see anything at all.

You probably need to adjust your contrast to 100.
It makes a world of a difference. It's awkward that it's not
so dark on my computer though... and my contrast is like 60.

@ Astek:
Do you have a CRT monitor?
IF so then thats probably the problem with "its dark for them and not for you" (they probably have a cheap LCD monitor, no offense.)

That might be the reason. This monitor wasn't cheap.
I'm going to post updates as soon as I hear word from Inspire.

I've talked with Inspire and this is most likely going to
start off in a Russian Asylum.

The story has changed drastically as well.
More to come!

I've twisted the story around and now it involves an asylum
type place. This is a screenshot of your cell you have been
let free from after crazy events.

And here the game is under the influence of a mod
that was shown to me by S4 (and it is not Lemur or EFX.)
Lighting will be fixed if I go with the mod.

Looks creepy. 10/10. When you said 'Russian asylum', I couldn't help but think of that one level in BLACK; that is a very tough level, it is.

I know... my monitor shows crap brighter. I don't have a cheap monitor. (No offense.)
You should adjust your contrast to 100 to play it.
By the way... since that demo, everything about the gameplay has changed.

More to come!

Notice the bloom as well...
That's using neither Lemur or EFX. It's just a direct
altering of how my graphics card shaded it.

I'm going to be posting a beta hopefully soon.
It's nt going to be anything too big. Just enough to
wet your desires to buy it. I will most likely give
a small taste of each level to you guys. Only the official
beta testers will get to play the whole level as it turns out...
and even then I'll modify it in the final build to scare them when
they don't expect it!

I'm back to update that this game may take a completely opposite direction.
I've been gone a while and I realize that I have strayed away from my original
intentions. Game making is suppose to be fun and I plan on getting the fun back
into the game development.

I'm going to go on a limb and say that this pretty much died.
School has been flattening me... plus a recent recovery completely
wiped out my FPSC FPM's. It's sad but no one said a virus gave you
a box of cookies.
If I can find time... I'll tackle myself another project.
